Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your path – Proverbs 3:5  

In order to trust the Lord, one must know Him, how do we get to know Him, by prayer, reading and studying His Word, through test and trials. When we know someone, we know what they will and will not do. No one could influence us otherwise.

The same way we place our trust in people, we should have above and beyond our trust in God than what we place in ourselves and others. God will never lead us opposite of His Word. God knows more than we will ever know, He knows the beginning to the end and in between. When we ask Him for His guidance, prior to making our decisions, God will gently guide us in the right direction. We should place our complete trust in the Lord.
