The shield that the Roman soldier carried into battle was a large oblong or oval piece of wood covered with linen and hide, and bounded with iron. It was large enough to protect and shield his whole body. No part of the body was left unprotected, the solider used it to protect and shield his body.

Faith is a weapon and shield against the on slaughter of Satan’s attack against our body. Faith in God’s word will keep our mind protected from being confused and derange. Faith will open our spiritual ears to hear what God is saying about us and our situation. Faith will help us to protect our eyes from things that will blur our spiritual vision.

Faith will help us to speak words of righteousness when others will use profanity.  Faith will make us want to touch someone with the gospel of Jesus. Faith will make us speak what God has said about our health and not what the doctor has diagnosed.  Faith is a part of the armor and when we’re clothed in it, not only will we be invulnerable to Satan’s attacks, but we will be unconquerable.

We need the whole armor; girded with truth, having on the breastplate of righteousness, our feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; and by faith we will conquer in righteousness.
