False Teaching

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears. And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables – 2nd Timothy 4:3-4.

Preaching is the God-ordained means to prevent defection from the truth. Teachers who appeal to itching ears tell people what they want to hear, not what they need to hear. Those who don’t want to hear the truth or reject the truth will have a rude awakening when the Son of God returns or when its time to exit life as we know it and enter into eternal life whether it’s heaven or hell.

The spirit of error which proceeds forth from Satan, the father of lies, is at work in an effort to pervert and distort the truth. This is one of his greatest strategies to hinder God’s people. He subtly works through false teachers, mixing the truth with heresies and lies. A spirit of error has creeped into the Church, there are many Christians who do not want to hear truth, they go from doctrine to doctrine, teachers to teachers, trying to find a doctrine that satisfies their way of thinking and their desires.

There are false teachers who take Scriptures out of context and mix it with their man-made theories, creating doctrines that corrupt the hearts and minds of God’s people, and turn them away from seeking after God and His will. They’d rather seek their own will and satisfy their own carnal desires. When we don’t take the time to pray, read and study the word of God, it’s easy to be deceived with false doctrine.

God’s written word has given us the instructions we need in order to enter the kingdom of God (Enter ye in at the straight {narrow} gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because straight is the gate, and narrow {confined} is the way which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it – Matthew 7:13-14).  The gate to eternal life is called “straight”. This does not mean it is difficult to become a Christian, but there is only one way to live eternally with God and only a few that decides to follow it. Living by God’s written words may not be popular, but it is true and right and the only way we will enter into heaven is by submission to the written instructions of God. Whether we like it or not, it is His way or no way!
