Deception

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind – 1st Corinthians 6:9.

The Spirit of deception is prevalent, and many have received deception without discerning they have been deceived. Deception doesn’t come in away people would recognize they are being deceived; its cunning, misleading, influential, motivated, and persuasive. Deception is sin and when one has not given themselves completely to the Lord, it’s easy and intriguing to one’s flesh. We have been warned that in the last days the dangers of being deceived are going to be great (And Jesus answered, and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying I am Christ, and shall deceive many – Matthew 24:4-5). Being discerning is crucial for Christians not to be lead astray from the instructions of God’s written Word. Deception has caused many to return to the world’s way of living, and many have died in their sins because of deception. The passive person does not want to be deceived but he or she is not doing anything about making sure they are not deceived.

Deception is a spirit that comes from Satan, it comes to make wrong to appear to be right and wrong right. Fornication is a spirit that is deceiving and many professing Christians are deceived by it. Many believe that nothing is wrong with sexual gratification by someone they aren’t married to whereas the Bible condones it. Fornication is a sin against one’s body and it causes death both physically and spiritually. Our bodies don’t belong to us, it belongs to God, not only is the local church a temple of the Holy Spirit, but the individual believer’s body itself also is a temple of the Holy Spirit (Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of a harlot? God forbid. What know ye not that he which is joined to a harlot is one body? for two saith he shall be one flesh – 1st Corinthians 6:15-16). As Christians, we have to submit ourselves to the Word of God if we want to be connected with Him and have a place in heaven.

Satan is not going to make sin appear wrong but right or make one think he or she isn’t hurting anyone, but spiritually they are harming themselves and the one they are committing themselves to. People categories sin, but in God’s eyes, there is no little sin or big sin, sin is seen as a sin and the wages of sin is death which could be physically and spiritually (For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through  Jesus Christ our Lord – Romans 6:23). The great thing about God, as we confess our sins and turn from our sins, He forgives us and will give us the strength we need to live according to His written Word. There is no sin we can commit and God does not forgive us when we come clean with Him and ask for His help.

The Bible is not for the unbeliever but for the believer. It’s the instructions for the professing believer to live by. God is not asking the believer to do something He has not given them the power to dominate. The Bible is an instrument God has given the believer to conquer anything that will come to control or dominate them. Prayer is the believer’s power and strength, the Bible gives us knowledge of who we are and what is expected of us as Christians. The Bible empowers the believer to live according to God’s written Word of conquering in this life and to live in glory in the next life. Take the time to read and study the Word of God, pray for understanding and the empowerment to live according to its instructions.

Sin is not preached nor taught in many churches; as a believer, it’s our responsibility to know the Word of God, and we learn what is expected of us by reading the Bible and following its instructions. The closer to the return of Jesus, the more deception and other foul spirits will be trying to influence the believer to live contrary to God’s written instruction. Yes, God loves us, but He does not love sin neither will He comprise with sin.  Satan has people believing they can live any way they want and still have a ticket to heaven. Christians have the Bible to read and study and get the knowledge of the God they say they serve. We can’t serve or worship Him if we don’t know what He expects out of us. God wants more than us singing in the choir, and singing congregational songs. He wants us to live according to the songs we’re singing!

Since the pandemic, many churches have been closed, Christians have not been able to gather as a group to praise and worship the Lord. As a Christian, are you reading your Bible as you were when you were attending church? Are you still fasting, are you still praising and worshipping Him without the choir and the musicians? Do you have a scheduled time you meet with the Lord in prayer? Attending church is great, but if we’re attending church and don’t have a relationship with Him, we don’t want to hear Him say, “depart from Me, I never knew you”.

Getting to know God is reading His Word and complying with them. Waiting in His presence, listening for His voice or the move of His Spirit. Fasting enables the Christian to dominate the flesh rather than the flesh dominating the Christian. Don’t be deceived, follow the instructions of the Bible! Deception comes in many forms, and as Christians, we must keep our focus on what God has instructed us to stay away from as Christians. Too many Christians are overcome by sin because they don’t pray, fast or read their Bible. Their flesh is dominating them because their spirit man is weak. Whatever you feed spirit or flesh that’s what will dominate.

We can’t expect to conquer sin if we’re always feeding our mind and spirit with the things we’re listening and looking at that is contrary to character of God and His Word. God’s Word instruct the believer in how to conquer sin, and to win the battle with their fleshly desires. When we don’t take the time to have a prayer time it is just as sinful as lying, cheating and all the other sins God’s Word states is sin. Reading God’s Word cleanses our heart and spirit, our submission to His Word gives us stability and strength. Don’t be deceived, stay connected to God and His Word!
