Armor of God

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplications in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplications for all saints (Ephesians 6:18).

So many times as Christians, we fight people with words, attitudes, and sometimes physically when we should be fighting in the Spirit. We are spiritual beings, fighting a spiritual war, a war we cannot see with the natural eye, but can feel the effects of it in the natural.  God has instructed the people of God how to fight and win. What you’re seeing and the feeling is temporary, it will only last for a season. When drafted in the war; they make sure you’re properly trained before sending you to battle. They make sure you have the right dress attire, the right equipment. Where to look for the enemy and what to do when you find the enemy.

God has left the believer the Bible, a war manual that gives instructions on how to enter into the Kingdom of God, how to receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Without these two we cannot fight the enemy and win.  There are Christians and there are born-again Christians. There is a difference between a Christian and born-again Christian.  A Christian is one that attends church only on Sunday and lives according to the world standards Monday through Saturday, living a life of carnality. Whereas a born-again Christian has forsaken the things of the world, have submitted themselves to the Lord and have received the Spirit of the Living  God within their being (Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him – John 14:23).

In order to fight the good fight of faith, we must have the Spirit of God. It’s not something we can lay down and pick up again when we finished doing what our flesh has instructed us to do, that’s religion, not Christianity.  One must be born of the Spirit of God (John 3:5 – Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of  God). Once we have received the Spirit of God, we have entrance to His Kingdom. Daily we’re applying the Word of God to our life and lifestyle. Now we’re ready to put on the armor of God to defeat the enemy. The whole armor of God consists of six pieces: Truth, the breastplate of righteousness, preparation of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, helmet of salvation, the sword of the Spirit (the Word of God).

Truth –Is the knowledge of the truth of God’s Word. Those that know God know His Word is true. No matter what it looks like, they know they have assurance in His Word; knowing God will not lie, but what He has promised, He will do whether it’s His blessings or His wrath.

Breastplate of Righteousness – Represents a holy character and moral conduct. Obedience to the Word of God will produce a godly life.  Living according to God’s instructions will also produce God’s blessings in our life and through our lives.

Preparation of the gospel of peace – Meaning we will follow peace with all men and godliness, knowing without it, no man shall see the Lord.

Shield of faith – Means taking God at His Word, believing God is greater than your struggle, greater than your sickness, greater than your finances, greater than anything you may be going through.

The helmet of salvation – The hope of salvation that is the certainty or assurance of salvation that comes through the belief that Jesus is the Son of God and accepting His death, burial, and resurrection and making Him Lord over your life.

Sword of the Spirit – Is the Word of God.  If the Word of God abides in us, we should be speaking it. One of God promises is that He watches over His Word to hasten to perform it. If the Word of God abides in us and we abide in His Word we have a guarantee what we ask shall be done. If the Word of God is in us, we will not be praying or asking for something that contradicts the Word of God. In order to fight the spiritual war we’re in and win; we must have the armor of God, we must be born of His Spirit. We must submit to His Word and believe His Word.
