Light of the World
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven (Matthew 5:14, V.16).
To minister is not just behind the pulpit, daily we’re ministering to others by our conversation and behavior. The world is in a chaotic state because Satan who is the god of this world has blinded their eyes to the truth. The world is looking for something other than someone saying “I’m a Christian”. Many professing Christians have been found to be liars, fornicator, adulterous, and child abusers.
Christianity was once looked upon with respect and reverence because of who we were and who we were representing, but now, the world has lost its respect for Christians because those who were hiding behind the name has brought an approach to the name, Christianity. Satan uses people to do his work for him; just as God needs a body to manifest Himself through, Satan has human agents to manifest himself through to bring a disgrace towards true Christians. People are watching you whether you realize it or not when you say or demonstrate yourself as being a Christian. Christianity is not saying “I’m a Christian” but it’s showing the nature and characteristics of our heavenly Father. Our biggest tract is our life, it’s what we’re showing the world. Can someone come into your presence and see and feel the difference in your life, if not, it’s time to return to the altar? The Fruit of the Spirit should be manifesting in our life (love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance). This is what should be manifesting through us as Christians.
The world is in the shape it’s in because we as Christians aren’t mindful of the things of God. We have set our affections on money, fame, and education. There is nothing wrong with any of these when we have them in the right perspective. Most Christians don’t read the Bible until they are in church, many will not pray for days and months and when they do pray; it’s about them and their family. This is why Jesus instructs the disciples those who would follow Him, would have to deny themselves. It’s not about us, it’s about being a vessel the Holy Spirit can use to pray through to destroy the works of Satan in the lives of the believer as well as the unbelievers. When we pray as we should, it’s manifested in our speech, behavior and our lifestyle. We as Christians should ask ourselves, are we being a light in dark places, in our homes, schools, place of employment as well as the church?
We are the light in a dark world full of hatred, self-centeredness, all the evil Satan came bring, he’s bringing it to make people believe there is no God, making them stop believing or believe there is a God but want to live according to what their flesh is making them desire and crave. Although God is Sovereign, He has placed us in the world to be a light, not to be in the world and become as the world. We are the hands and feet of God, the world will not experience genuine love unless it comes through us as Christians. We as Christians must show the world the Father and the Son and it comes through our behavior and character. We should be manifesting the Fruit of the Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit, are they operating through you?
