Job Description

For we are laborers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building – 1st Corinthians 3:9.

Most employers have a job description for their employees whether it’s a potential candidate for hire or someone that has been employed a length of time with the employer.  The job description describes the general tasks or other related and responsibilities of a position.  It may specify the functionary to whom the position reports, specifications such as the qualifications or skills needed by the person in the job,  and salary range. It also may ask the applicant their strengths and their weakness. The job description may also require development goals such as set goals for what might be achieved in the future, such as possible promotion and conditions. Being employed by God also have a job description and it goes for every nation and denomination. Becoming a Christian is employment with benefits. Before we can be an employee, we must first believe (That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation – Romans 10:9).  Once we believe Jesus is the Son of God and accept His salvation then we have been adopted into the family of God and is employed by God to work with Him as His laborer.

As a labor, we must forsake the world and its enticements (Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean things; and I will receive you – 2nd Corinthians 2:6:17). As being a child of God and a laborer; God does not want us living in partiality. Meaning we’re trying to serve Him and live according to the world’s actions and thinking.  Some Christians believe it’s okay to continue to listen to secular music, it’s okay to attend secular concerts, it’s okay to have sexual benefits without being married. Thinking it’s okay to lie every now and then or hold unforgiveness., drinking and smoking. None of these things should be in a professing Christian’s life.  As a Christian, we now have our Father’s DNA, our behavior and character should be that of our Father’s, we should be as He is (Sanctify yourselves, therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the Lord your God.Leviticus 20:7). We are the temple of God and it should be holy (Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?  If the Father is holy, the children should be holy; holiness indicates we have submitted ourselves completely to God and His Word.

God has not changed, His power is just as prevalent as it was during the Apostle’s era, the only thing that has changed is the people of God.  In order to see the manifestation of God’s power, we must live according to His Word. God uses vessels to manifest Himself through, but if the vessel is not clean, He can’t use it.  As Christians and laborers of God, the fruit of the Spirit should be in manifestation: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance. The gifts of the Spirit should be in manifestation: the word of wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, healing, working of miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, diverse kinds of tongues, interpretation of tongues.  As laborers, these should be in manifestation in order to be an effective witness to the unbeliever.  To gain the lost, the fruit of the Spirit must be in manifestation; if the fruit or the gifts of the Spirit is not in manifestation, how can God use the laborer?  These are gifts He gives to the believer to be empowered, the fruit of the Spirit is something every believer should have if they have the Spirit of the Living God living within their being.

Just as an employer is looking for a good and exceptional worker, so is God to work in His vineyard.  To be employed, you don’t have to have a title, all ye need is a yes Lord. Willing to be submitted to Him and His Word.  God is in need of laborers, Satan has an overflow. Let us labor for God, and pray for a revival to start in each individual Christian’s heart.  A revival is not for the unbeliever, it’s for the believer, revival is to bring back, to restore, can’t restore something that hasn’t been. When we become laborers for God and allow His Spirit to flow in us and through us then can we reach the unbeliever with the power of God.
