Be Established In God’s Word

If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you – John 15:7

What does it mean to abide in Him and His Words to abide in you? It means to stay, sit, settle or dwell. It’s to wait, cease from doing it your way and depend on His will to be done. It is to have faith in His Word that no matter what is going on in your life, His Word supersede the issue or problem. But one can’t have faith in His Word if they don’t know His Word. Knowing and believing God’s Word gives the believer power to fight against the different attacks and issues that come in their life. Creation was created by God’s Word; Jesus resisted Satan with God’s Word, and we can resist Satan with God’s Word when it dwells within our heart and spirit.  God’s Word is action, it builds, destroys, empower the believer to overcome anything that comes in the life of the believer that wasn’t from God.  God’s Word will never return to Him void or defeated.  Reading and studying God’s Word brings life and faith to the believer. As a believer we are faced with challenges daily, either God’s Word will be in effect in our lives or Satan.

Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy the believer’s faith, and if God’s Word doesn’t take first place in your life, the believer will be defeated by Satan’s lies. In Genesis chapter 3, Eve stood at the crossroad of temptation and obedience. Satan tempted her to eat the fruit God had forbidden both her and Adam to eat if they did eat they would die. Satan tells her, “You will not surely die, God, know that when you eat of it your eyes will be open, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil”.

What was Satan saying to Eve? “God is holding out on you”. He has something good, He’s trying to keep from you”.  Rather than obeying God, Eve and Adam ate from the forbidden fruit and died spiritually.  The Word God has spoken to them was to be obeyed just as He expects us to obey His written Word.  When God’s Word has been implanted in our mind, heart, and spirit, Satan can’t influence easily.  Take time to read and study God’s Word, meditate on His Word, allow His Word to take first place to anything that Satan will try to bring to influence you with.
