Prayer Is Needed To Survive

And He spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint – Luke 18:1.

If you have been saved for any length of time, you know that we’re in a spiritual war with an unseen enemy. In this spiritual fight, God has given us spiritual weapons to defeat the enemy and his hosts. He has given us armor for our protection and defense. Too many times believers don’t wear the armor that has been given for defense and protection. The armor must be kept on at all times due to the fact as a believer the enemy will manifest at any given time in different forms and different avenues. The believer must have spiritual discernment as well as the power of God living within them to conquer the enemy.

In order to defeat the enemy, the believer must have his or her loins girt about with the truth of God’s Word, meaning the truth of God’s Word within their heart and mind. They must have on the breastplate of righteousness representing a holy character and moral conduct. The believer feet should be shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, an eagerness that comes from the gospel of peace. Having on the shield of faith, taking God at His Word by believing His promises. Such trust will protect one from doubt and fear. The believer must have on the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. With all this armor, the believer must be prayerful.

We don’t have to be position a certain way to pray, we can pray throughout the day with words of thanks, praise, and worship as well as our petitions and requests. It’s good to have a meeting place with God; it can be your bedroom, bathroom, your car during your travel time to and fro from work or running errands. Prayer accompanied by the armor is daily protection against the influences of Satan. The believer will not be so easily tempted if they keep on the armor with prayer.

Prayer is needed to keep communication with the Father and to make us sensitive to His voice and Spirit as well as knowing the voice and the spirit of Satan. Prayer builds our faith, prayer keep one focus on the things of God and not the influences of the world and Satan. The Father should be the first one you talk to in the morning and the last One you talk to before retiring for bed. Your spiritual life and spiritual growth depend on your prayer life.
