Love

A new commandment I give unto you, That you love one another as I have loved you that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples if ye have love one to another – John 13:34-35.

Most people in the faith community today are not missing it in their confessions or knowing what the Word of God says. They are not missing it in believing the Word, but they are missing it by not knowing how to walk in love. When we see one of our sisters or brothers appearing to have fallen into sin rather than showing love not condoning the sin, but coming to them in love to restore.

In order to restore a sister or brother, it must be according to the Word of God (Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted – Galatians 6:1). We are the children of God, we have been covered with the blood of Jesus and God the Father wants us to restore those overtaken in a fault and to do that in a spirit of meekness or humility.

The first thing most people want to do when they hear of somebody being overtaken in a fault is to reach for the phone call or text. They don’t want to cover that fault with love and silence or restore the individual, they want to talk about his or her fault. The Bible indicates that love beareth all things; love not only hides the sins and evil of others but it refuses to speak of them.

In order to maintain your faith walk, we must put down our carnal nature; the secret is allowing the love of God to work within our heart and spirit. Align ourselves with the Word of God. Love restores, it doesn’t destroy.
