Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places – Ephesians 6:10-12.
In the Christian life we battle against principalities and power, the powerful evil forces of fallen angels headed by Satan who is a vicious fighter. To withstand their attacks, we must depend on God’s strength and use every piece of His armor. As we fight against the rulers of the darkness of this world, we must fight in the strength of the church as a whole and individually, whose power comes from the Holy Spirit.
Satan is real and so is his co-hosts. We face a powerful army whose goal is to defeat the church, the body of Christ as a whole and individually. We need supernatural power to defeat Satan, and God has provided that in His Holy Spirit within us and His armor surrounding us. The whole armor is the believer’s protection against evil and Satan. Our real battle is not with human cultists, false religionists, atheists, agnostics and pseudo-Christians, but with the demonic beings working through them. Sometimes flesh and blood aren’t aware they are being used by demonic spirits.
We don’t fight physically, we fight through prayer, and if we have not been filled with the Holy Spirit, we can’t fight in the spirit. It’s Spirit fighting against demonic spirits. It’s the Spirit of the living God that dwells within Christians, without it, we would not have power (But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth – Acts 1:8). We must be filled with the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. It’s the Spirit of God and the Word of God that Satan recognizes and must become subject. Yes, God goes in war with those who have not been filled with the Holy Spirit, but have sanctified themselves to Him. We have been admonished by Jesus to ask for the Holy Spirit, because it’s a gift to empower the believer (If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him – Luke 11:23?
We must have on the armor of God accompanied with prayer and fasting to defeat the enemy. Every Christian should have a designated time when and where they pray. It’s the responsibility of Christians to pray for every situation that’s happening in their lives and the lives of others. It’s the Spirit of God that gives us how to pray when we don’t know how or what to pray for (Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered – Romans 8:26). Prayer is the ammunition against the attacks of Satan, the armor of God is what keeps the solider from being wounded or lose their spiritual life in the battle.
Prayer is much-needed for our families, neighborhoods, schools, cities, country, if you can think of it, it needs prayer. Listen to the news, it’s time for the people of God to buckle up with prayer and stop allowing Satan and his co-host to rule and attack. God has given us dominion to rule the earth from the beginning of the earth. We lost dominion with Adam and Eve, but Jesus came and restored the dominion we once had. Prayer is needed, fasting is needed, the Holy Spirit is needed, the Word of God is needed to be memorized to fight the adversary.
Every Christian should have a war room. A war room is where you have designated a place where you will commune with God, and fight the Adversary, it maybe your bedroom, kitchen, bathroom or your car. The fight is on whether you want it or not. Satan is not playing, he hates God, you, your family and the whole creation God has created, and especially those who have submitted their lives to God in the beauty of holiness.
Choose a time you will meet with the Father, and as you do so on a regular basis, He will prompt in your spirit what to pray about and what to fight against. You’re in the army of God, put on your armor and fight!
