Enter ye in at the straight (narrow) gate: for wide is the gate and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat. Because straight is the gate, and narrow (difficult or confined) is the wa.y, which leadeth unto life and few there be that find it – Matthew 7:13-14

Naturally, when we have to go through a gate, if we have an option between choosing a narrow gate or a wider gate, the majority of the time we will choose the gate that has more space to pass through without any difficulties.

The gateway to eternal life is called “strait” an old word for narrow. This doesn’t mean it’s difficult to become a Christian, but that there is only one way to live eternally with God and only few that decides to follow it. The only way we can enter into heaven is believing in Jesus who died for our sins and reconciled us to the Father is the only entrance way to heaven. Living His way may not be popular, and many choose popularity rather than the kingdom.

Living a true Christian life is confined, but it’s not difficult when we have decided to submit ourselves to His instructions, then will He enable us to live according to the instructions of the Father. Many Christians have a form of godliness, a religion without power or spiritual life. When people don’t want to change, the first thing they will say is ” we don’t suppose to judge”, but the Bible has instructed us to judge by the fruit they are producing, judging by the fruit is basically discerning and comparing their actions with the instructions of the Bible. We have no right to tell someone they are going to hell, but we should inform them, God has given Christians and believers instructions how to live, and that’s what He expects our lives to be confirmed to.

Whatever we make up our minds to do, will be easy, but when we’re fighting against it or really don’t want to do it, that’s what makes it difficult. There is no other way we have an entrance into heaven, but by the way God’s instructions manual has given us, the Bible. This is why Jesus and the Apostles gave instructions. If we try to live our lives any other way other than what we have been instructed, we’re living by a different doctrine (Now I beseech you, brethren, mark (note) them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly (appetite) and by good words and fair (flattering) speeches deceive the hearts of the simple (innocent) – Romans 16:17-18). 

This is why we must take the time to read and study the word of God, giving ourselves to prayer and fasting so that our spiritual understanding will be opened and we’ll be able to discern what is true and what is false as well as given the ability to live according to the instructions given by the Bible. God’s instructions isn’t trying to make us do anything, but it’s  a warning so that we can be saved from the influence of the secular world. We can be saved from entering hell and making an entrance to the promise, Heaven!
