Gifts of the Spirits (Working of Miracles)

Now there are diversities (various kinds) of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administration  (ministries), but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations (activities) , but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal                   1st Corinthians 12:4-7.

Whatever gifts God confers on any man, He confers them that he may do good with them. They are a trust put into his hands. They are not given for show or for a fee, but for service. Many have misused the gifts and used them for financial gain rather than using them to bless the body of Christ.

A miracle, therefore, is  supernatural intervention in the ordinary course of nature, a temporary suspension of the accustomed order, an interruption of the system of nature as we know it operated by the force of the Spirit. The difference between the gift of Faith and the Working of Miracles is that the gift of faith receives a miracle and the working of miracles works a miracle. The gifts of the Spirit should be in manifestation in the church stimulating the faith of His people, and astonishing and confusing the unbelief of the world. The reason why these gifts aren’t in operation as they should be is because we’re not meeting God’s conditions.  There isn’t a hunger for the manifestation of the gifts because most Christians think the gifts were just for the Apostle of the New Testament.

An example of the working of miracle is when Jesus feed the five thousand. He fed them with five loaves of bread and two fishes. After all had eaten, there remained twelve basket full (Matthew 14:15-21).  Another example is when a widower owed her creditors and she didn’t have the money to pay them. Elisha, the prophet listen to her complaint and instructed her to go and borrow from her neighbors empty containers. She was instructed to pour the oil into the containers until they were all full, the oil didn’t run out, but she ran out of containers, this was a miracle (2nd Kings 4:1-7).

Miracles are still happening today just as it did in Biblical days. When someone has been diagnosed with a terminal illness and has been given a certain amount of time to live. The person prays or receive prayer for healing and goes back to the doctor and the illness is no longer in the person’s body, that’s a miracle. A toddler falling from a three-story building and receives minor scratches, no broken bones, that’s a miracle.

God never changes, what He did in the Bible, He will do today. We have to believe in God and the manifestation of the gifts of the Spirit as well as being filled with the Holy Spirit for the manifestation of the gift to be in operation through us. Study the Bible, pray and ask God for what gift He has given you, and allow it to work through you for the glory of God.
