Divine Judgment

Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought His judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord’s anger – Zephaniah 2:3.

The prophet’s description of approaching judgments wasn’t to drive the people to despair, but to drive them to God. It wasn’t to frighten them out of their wits, but to frighten them out of their sins. There is a vast different between the prophets of the Bible and some of today’s prophets. The prophets of Old and New Testament warned the people of God’s upcoming judgment, whereas some of today’s prophets give the people what they want to hear, ” God’s going to bless you with a spouse, car, home, and finances”.

God cares about our well-being, that’s why He gave the Apostle Paul an unction to write, but my God shall supply all of your needs (But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus – Philippians 4:19).  Needs are different from desires, but He also has promised us, if we delight ourselves in Him, He would give us the desires of our heart (Delight thyself also in the Lord; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart – Psalm 37:4). We have been instructed to commit everything we have and do to Him, and we do this by entrusting Him with everything, our lives, families, jobs, possessions to His control and guidance. Many want the blessings of the Lord, but don’t want to do what’s needed to get the blessings. Don’t be fooled, Satan will bless you to keep you bound in slavery, but the blessings of the Lord will make you rich, and He adds no sorrow with it.

The Bible is God’s law for everyone professing to be a Christian, we can’t adhere to some scriptures, and omit what we don’t want to adhere to. Divine judgment is a major theme in the prophets, they weren’t going to different cities and states informing the people of God’s blessings no matter how the person had rejected or willfully disobeyed the word of God. Every Christian that is familiar with the word of God knows there will be a day of divine judgement, and the Bible is our preparation for that day to escape the wrath of God.

As much as God loves His people, there will be a day of judgment, this is why it is so critical for those professing to be Christian to read and study the word of God. At the day of judgment, there will be no excuses why we didn’t read the Bible, why we didn’t submit to His word,  His love will have nothing to do with the day of judgment. This is why we, as Christians should admonish people to give themselves completely to the Lord. Many are attending church, but is hell bound, attending church and being the church is two different things.

The Bible gives the believer instructions of what the church of Christ should be like, its to our advantage to seek the word of God to know what He expects out of us as being His church. Our salvation is personal, every one of us will have to stand before the judgment seat of Christ (So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God – Romans 14:12). Jesus died and freed us from sin (Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness – Romans 6:18).

We become servants of righteousness when we conform to His word and His will.
