The Pastor That God Gives
And I will give you pastors (rulers) according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding – Jeremiah 3:15.
When looking for a pastor it’s similar to looking for a spouse, you don’t grab the first one because of their looks or because they sound good. You look to see if this is the one God has for you, is this the one God has placed in my life to equip me for spiritual growth?Sometimes people join a church because of their parents or relatives have been members for years, others join the church because of the prestige of the building or pastor rather than checking the fruit of the individual you’re allowing to have spiritual authority over you. A pastor or leader can be full of the word of God, has been called of God to minister, but that doesn’t make he or she be your pastor. Secondly, everyone that ministers haven’t been called or ordained by God to minister.
God promised to give His people leaders who would follow Him, filled with wisdom, and understanding. We should look for leaders that are allowing God to lead them in order for them to lead us, but if they don’t follow God, they will lead us away from the principals of God. As the leader, they must have a prayerful life as well as fasting life in order to hear from God to direct the people. They too can get so busy until they are no longer being effective as spiritual leaders because they aren’t in the presence of God in order to know what the people have need of and not what the people want to hear.
Anyone can preach a good message, but if the message doesn’t have the approval of God on it, it will be non-effective. When a message is from God to His people, it changes lives, it revives the people’s commitment, it gives them a hunger and thirst for the things of God. It gives them hope, it gives them determination, it heals broken hearts and broken spirits.
Spiritual leaders should be fully aware of what’s in the congruent’s without this knowledge how can they minister to the needs of the people? The fruit and the gifts of the Spirit should be in a manifestation of the spiritual leaders. The congruent’s should have access to the Pastor when they are in need or the Pastor should have other leaders he or she has assigned, and it would be as though you’re in counseling with your leader because the anointing that’s upon the Pastor should be upon the leaders. Before joining a church or while still remaining in a church, there should be spiritual growth if you’re committed to God and the church if not, it’s a possibility this is not the pastor God has for you. The Pastor God gives you will feed you knowledge and understanding of God’s word and there will be spiritual growth! Then on the other hand, if you’re not submitted to God, you’re not going to be submitted to the teaching.
If we didn’t need leaders, Jesus never would have appointed leadership as apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. This is to assist the believer in spiritual growth (And he gave some apostles, and some prophets, and some evangelist; and some pastors and teachers. For the perfecting [equipping] of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ – Ephesians 4:11-12). Professing Christians need leadership as well as pastors needing and should have a Bishop overseeing them.
