Let’s Talk About Satan

And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it Job 1:7.

Job was a righteous man, he feared God and eschewed evil, but that didn’t stop Satan from attacking him. Christianity does not exclude one from being attacked by Satan. You will be on his hit list when you truly live a pleasing life to God.

Satan is a fallen angel; he was created by God, and he was given authority when he was in heaven. When he rebelled against God, he was thrown out of heaven, but God didn’t take the authority He had given him. When Satan was thrown out of heaven, he became the god of this world. Satan is not omnipresent, meaning present in all places simultaneously like God.

Satan is an adversary of God and humanity; he uses fallen angels and people to do his bidding. He is a spirit and can’t be seen with the natural eye. He influences people to do things against God’s nature and attributes without realizing they are his servants.

Satan didn’t have authority over the earth or humanity until Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s instructions to not eat from the forbidden fruit. He influences people to do the opposite of what is right. God has given everyone the free will to do whatever they desire to do, so Satan can’t take your will unless we give him our free will, and he will take it and influence us to do what God has instructed us not to do.

Satan attacked Job with boils from the crown of his head to the bottom of his feet; Satan wanted Job to curse God because of his affliction. Before attacking Job, he had the Sabeans attack, taking the oxen and donkeys. Then a fire burned the sheep and the servants, influencing the Chaldeans to attack and take the camels, killing more of the servants, then Job’s sons and daughters were killed in a tornado or hurricane. The disasters that befell Job were human agency and natural sources though Satan’s power was behind them.

Satan has powers and needs to be respected, but not feared! We can’t do anything against Satan or his co-host in our human strength, but if we have been baptized in the Holy Spirit, Jesus has given us power over Satan and his co-host (Behold, I give unto you power [authority] to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Nothing withstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven – Luke 10:19-20). This authority was not just given to the Apostles as some teach. Just as the Apostles needed spiritual authority, the born-again Christian needs spiritual authority to fight against demonic spirits.

The same Holy Spirit that was in the Apostles is the same Holy Spirit indwelling the born-again believer. Satan is a spirit, and he also uses people, but he uses them to do the opposite of what is right. As a Christian, you need to read and study the Bible to be aware of Satan’s attacks and how he attacks.

Just as Satan tried to influence Jesus to be his servant by showing Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory, he has influenced many to be his servant by showing them fame, prosperity, popularity, and riches, and they are his servants, they have sought the kingdom of darkness and forsaken the kingdom of righteousness, their treasures are not in heaven but hell. According to the Word of God, what we treasure is where our heart will be (For where your treasure is, there will your heart be – Matthew 6:21). There is nothing wrong with having riches, but if riches have you, then it has become sinful.

Sadly, most rich and well-educated people place their accomplishments on what they did, not understanding it was the love of God and the grace of God in their lives to make their accomplishments. So they will praise and honor themselves rather than giving praise and honor to God for what He did in their lives. Satan influences people to praise themselves rather than praise God. There is nothing wrong with praising yourself, but keep in mind who was the author of your accomplishments.

If Satan can’t get you to praise him directly, he will send an influence connected to him, so he is still receiving the praises rather than God. Many professing Christians listen to secular music, and they think there is nothing wrong with it. Music was ordained by God; Satan was God’s worshiper leader; the music he played was to worship God. When Satan rebelled against God, his gift remained with him. Satan gifts people like God, but the gifts he gives will destroy the persons’ relationship with God. The music and lyrics he gives have people worshiping people and him. The music and lyrics are not to worship God but him, which makes secular music a no, no to those professing to be Christians.

Satan influences people to make movies that blaspheme the name of God and makes fun of the Holy Spirit. He also has supposed to be Christian, playing roles of fornicating and committing adultery. They’re drinking or taking drugs. He has non-believers in all sorts of acts that are the opposite of righteousness. They have gone so far as to have children using profanity like a sailor in movies. They have changed the innocent of some cartoons by having the characters use profanity.

This is why God has instructed the believer not to be conformed to the world’s thinking and actions. Christians listen to music, watch different movies that magnify Satan and his attributes and think nothing is wrong. Because they have become conformed to the world (And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God – Romans 12:2). When one conforms to the world’s way of thinking, they can’t see God’s way because they have been indoctrinated by the world’s way of thinking.

Satan is skillful and cunning, and he has the power to destroy people both physically and spiritually. Many lives have been destroyed because of the overdoses of drugs. Some became alcoholics, lost their will, and became slaves to Satan. Some died and are dying because of sexual diseases. We can’t live the opposite of God’s Word and not suffer the consequences of our disobedience.

Believers and non-believers both have a common enemy; the adversary of mankind is Satan. He knows he has limited time to rule the earth, and he’s trying to gather as many as he can to follow him. Know who is your enemy; it’s not people. To fight a spirit, you must fight with a Spirit, and it only comes by being a born-again Christian. God’s Spirit will enable the believer to fight against Satan and his co-host. God and His angels will back up the believer when he or she is living according to the Word of God.

Don’t allow everyone to speak into your heart and spirit. Everyone who says they are a pastor, apostle, prophet, evangelist, or teacher has not been sent or ordained by God. Satan has a five-fold ministry, and he uses them to misinterpret the Scriptures and lead people to follow false doctrine. Everyone writing books has not been sent by God. Satan’s followers will place a Scripture here and there to get you interested, and once he gets you, he will fill your mind, heart, and spirit with misinterpreted Scriptures and beliefs.

Seek God and His righteousness, and submit yourself to be a follower of Christ. Take time to read and study the Scriptures. Make time to pray, and your weaponry is having the Spirit of God living within your being, being baptized in the Holy Spirit. We all have a portion of His Spirit, whether we’re believers or non-believers. God breathed into man, and he became a living soul. So we need the baptism of the Holy Spirit to fight against an unseen force, the spirit of Satan and his co-host. Submitting ourselves to God and His Word will enforce our victory against Satan and his co-host.

Don’t just hear about God; get to know God for yourself. Build a relationship with Him by communicating with Him, knowing His Word, and allowing His Word to be in you. Jesus has already won the battle; He needs us to be in His army to carry out His command.
