For both He that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause He is not ashamed to call them brethern – Hebrews 2:11.

Holiness is fundamentally a quality of God, by God’s actions persons, places, or objects can be consecrated or sanctified, separated from common life or use and dedicated in some way to the service or worship of God.

In the Old Testament ceremonial rites were in involved in sanctification.  The altar was consecrated with a sacrifice and anointing, the tabernacle and its furnishing were anointed when they were first put to use. Through the ceremonial rites of consecration, it is shown that places and objects are not holy because of their own existence, but because of their involvement in the holiness of God’s people and their worship.

The holiness objects used in worship is, therefore, not an impersonal or neutral quality, but is built upon the relationship between God and His people. First born sons, and Nazarites were consecrated for specific roles, the underlying assumption was that the whole of the people of God were consecrated to Yahweh.

The New Testament speaks of believers in Christ as “sanctified” is God’s own act. His declaration of their sanctification (Sanctify them through thy  truth: thy word is truth – John 17:17) .

Sanctification also comes through Jesus (Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours – 1st Corinthians 1:2). 

The Holy Spirit and God the Father are also active in the sanctification of Christians (Elect according to the fore knowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ; Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied – 1st Peter 1:2).

Sanctification is setting apart, separation, devoted to God and His written instructions. It’s not a denomination, but an instruction given by God for all those professing to be Christians. We must be sons of God both by adoption and regeneration before we can be brought to the glory of heaven. We who have been set apart for God’s service, cleansed, and made holy (sanctified) by Jesus, now have the same Father He has, so He’s not ashamed to call us His brethern.

Disobedience will not inherit the kingdom of heaven. Salvation is not a matter of simple faith, as most preachers have preached. It involves more than a person simply saying, “Jesus, forgive me”. Eternal salvation is given to those who obey. It is through our obedience that we enter into a relationship where we become one with God. If we obey the word of God, we shall never see death (Verily, verily I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death – John 8:51). 

This does not mean people would not die physical, but they would not die spiritually. When one dies physically and have lived according to God’s instructions they are automatically go before the Father, and those who disobeyed the Word of God and died automatically go to Sheol where they are being toremented waiting for the day to be cast into the lake fire.

Obey is to literally submit our soul and heart to the instructions of God’s written Word. Disobedience is rebellion to God and this is what Satan and a third of heaven’s angel did, and they were thrown out of heaven. So if we disobey as they did, we will not enter into heaven, but hell awaits those who disobey (Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure; and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth shall descend into it – Isaiah 5:14).

Our acception of Jesus is not only Him being our Savior, but making Him our Lord will cause us to be heirs of heaven (For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother , and sister, and mom – Matthew 12:50). We have to obey the Word of God if we want to live with God!
