And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness – 2nd Corinthians 12:9.
Apostle Paul was an instrument God used mightily to draw people to Jesus and heal the sick. When he was stricken with an ailment, he sought the Lord three times to be delivered, but the Lord didn’t remove it.
Scholars state that Paul’s thorn in the flesh could have been a recurring physical affliction, such as eye trouble, intense body pain, or some form of mental or psychological distress. Whatever the affliction was, the Lord did not heal him.
Christians have died because they believed God was going to heal them, and they didn’t go to the doctor to receive the medical help they needed. That may have been one reason God blessed men to become doctors to heal the body with medication or surgery because not everyone would be healed divinely.
When one goes to the doctor, it does not mean he or she should have more faith in the doctor than they do in the Lord, but they should believe God will use the doctor as an instrument to heal His people. One of the Lord’s disciples was a physician. Yes, we pray and ask God for healing, but we also should seek medical help unless the Lord tells us that He will heal us.
If you have prayed and have had others pray for you and you didn’t receive healing, you need to seek medical help. Don’t allow anyone to tell you the reason you didn’t receive healing because of doubt or you didn’t have enough faith.
Satan does not bring on all sickness; some sicknesses are because of age and how we have mistreated ourselves before accepting salvation. As Christians, we pray and believe God for healing, but when He doesn’t, He’s still God, and no one knows the mind or the heart of God.
Many have backslidden because they were taught God always heals, and they didn’t receive healing for themselves or loved ones. Some hesitate to pray because they fear that if they aren’t healed, the church body will tell them they don’t have faith or some sin is in their lives, why they didn’t receive healing.
The Apostle Paul left behind one of his colleagues with a sickness (Erastus abode in Corinth, but Trophimus have I left at Miletus sick – 2nd Timothy 4:20). I’m not saying we don’t believe God for our healing; I’m saying although we want healing, sometimes He does not heal us on this side, but we will receive healing when we enter heaven.
Don’t stop believing in God or backsliding because your request was not granted. God loves everyone. He does not have favorite children; He loves them all the same. Everyone doesn’t receive divine healing; that does not mean God does not love them. Keep praying and believing God, after a limited time you haven’t received healing, seek out medical help, but place your faith in God that He will use the doctor or surgeon to receive your healing.
