Unity

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity – Psalm 133:1.

Unity means oneness, harmony, agreement, inseparability, and unification. It is needed naturally and spiritually.

Naturally, we need unity in our homes, marriages, families, places of employment, and businesses. When unity is not present in either of these, it causes division. Disunity between a husband and wife sometimes causes resentment, infidelity, and divorce.

Husbands and wives should agree on the finances, talking to each other before taking action without the other’s agreement. This causes conflict, one spouse may feel they’re being overlooked and their opinion doesn’t matter.

Unity needs to be in our Christian community between denominations. God’s Word does not change, and denominations can’t change it! The Body of Christ needs to follow peace (Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord – Hebrews 12:14).

Disunity between family members can cause division, actions to be taken, and words spoken that cannot be retrieved. Disunity in business can cause a business to fail. We have disunity in America and between nations. Disunity does not come from God but from Satan.

When there is confusion, division, and discord, Satan is in the midst of it. Disunity has brought about discrimination, and hatred between nations. One nation thinks their superior to another nation when all of them have been created by God and none is greater than the other in God’s eyesight!

When unity exists in the world, people can live together without wanting to dominate one another. Hatred and discrimination can’t function when unity exists. Disunity has been existing ever since mankind has forsaken God.

People have forsaken God and God has allowed their disobedience to control and dominate them. Sin brings about discipline, and sometimes God will use our enemies to beat us so we run to God. Disobedience is what has caused disunity, once we seek God and righteousness, unity will be established.

We can’t pray and live according to the Word of God and be in disunity, those who defy His Word are the ones who bring disunity. Rather than fighting against one another, let’s pray for those we know that bring division and discord.

This nation can’t be greater until prayer and respect for God come into place. Those who can pray and will pray need to pray for this nation and those who have authority over us, that means everyone even if you don’t like them, you have to love them and pray for them!
