The Process of Christianity – Part 2

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new – 2nd Corinthians 5:17.

Christians should live a holy life that reflects God’s nature, who saved them. When one receives salvation instantly, there will be a change in their heart and spirit., they will not stay the same.

There is no way we can come before the Lord accepting His salvation and He leaves us the same way we came before Him. When salvation is accepted from the heart there will be a change in the person’s desires. They will no longer want to participate in the actions of the world because they have become a new creation of God.

Once the individual has accepted salvation they are candidates to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. One does not receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit at new birth. It was the Holy Spirit that drew the person, but it’s the baptism of the Holy Spirit that would keep them (And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption – Ephesians 4:30). The Holy Spirit of God should never be pushed away, ignored, or rejected.

If we remember that the One who lives in us is God’s own Spirit, we will be much more selective about what we think, read, watch, say, and do. Even with the baptism in the Holy Spirit, evil thoughts and actions come to tempt us, but we have the power of God residing in us to not yield to temptation.

As Christians we have to guard our eyes and ear gates, these are entries where ungodly spirits can enter and influence us to sin. Every Christian should have a daily prayer life, without prayer the person is easily influenced by Satan. Prayer not only builds our relationship with the Father and builds our faith, it protects us from temptation (Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak – Mark 14:38). Avoiding temptation demands constant vigilance of what we allow in our eye and ear gates. The type of people we associate ourselves with even within the church body.

Set aside a day you will fast, if you can only do an hour, start off with an hour. As you be faithful to that hour, God will enable you to fast longer, before you know it, you will be fasting a whole day, and sometimes two or three days as the Lord leads you. Fasting is crucial in our spiritual walk with the Lord; it assists us in having control over our flesh rather than flesh having control over our spirit.

Reading the Bible daily gives us knowledge of our Heavenly Father, it gives instructions for our Christian walk. Knowing the Word is the armor we need to fight against the attacks of Satan (And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God – Ephesians 6:17). We can’t fight Satan with dance and jump, we have to put the Word on him. Get full of the Word of God so that you can fight the good fight of faith.

Attending services other than Worship service is needed to grow spiritually. Sunday School is the foundation of growth, and weekly Bible Study assists one in spiritual growth. Join a church where they teach the full gospel. Most full gospel, pentecostal, apostolic teaches holiness, they don’t teach saved all way saved because they know if you’re saved and continually live a life opposite of the Bible one is hell bound.

Just because you received salvation does not mean you have nothing else to do, as a Christian, it’s your responsibility for your spiritual growth. The Holy Spirit will not make you read your Bible, pray, fast, or attend church.

As Christians we have a standard of living; it’s called holiness (Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleans ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God – 2nd Corinthians 7:1). Holiness means Christians separate themselves from the actions of the world and focus on living their lives according to Scriptures.

Christians present their bodies and lives as a living sacrifice.
