Know ye not, that to whom ye obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey, whether of sin unto death, or obedience unto righteousness – Romans 6:16?
To be a Christian, one must be converted. Conversion requires a total commitment of the personality, intellect, emotion, and will. The result of the conversion is a changed life.
Christians are to be Christ-like, meaning our character would be that of Christ: love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. This is known as the Fruit of the Spirit. The fruit of the Holy Spirit can be produced only by God. A Christian’s character results from Christ living in them.
When we receive salvation, it is the belief in our heart and the confession of our mouth that we have received salvation. Once we receive salvation, we must allow Christ to have full control over our being, so that He can create us in His own image, and as we were in our original state in the Garden of Eden.
When Jesus enters our heart, He’s not going to make us do anything we don’t want to do; it is our choice whether or not we want to follow His leading. He’s not going to make us pray, read the Bible, or fast. When we’re prompted to do so and follow His leading, then we are being His servant. When Satan influences us to lie, hold on to offenses, and unforgiveness, then we are being Satan’s servant. Daily, we have a choice to serve either God or Satan.
If we want to be strong enough not to be influenced by Satan, we must abide in Jesus through fellowship with Him daily through prayer, reading, or studying the Bible. Listening to worship music or watching ministry programs. This is keeping your heart, spirit, and ears shielded from the influence of Satan. When we allow secular music and programs with profanity and sexual gratification to entertain us, we’re opening our spirit and heart to Satan’s influence.
Music invites either the Spirit of God or the spirit of Satan to minister to our spirit and heart. When music is played at church, it is to welcome the Holy Spirit into the sanctuary. When we play secular music, we’re inviting different demonic spirits to minister to us. Many professing Christians don’t think anything is wrong with listening to secular music, but it causes you to lose your relationship with God because secular music is not of Him.
Think about it, do you think they will be playing secular music in heaven? Do you think the Father and Son are listening to angels playing secular music? If they aren’t listening to it, why are we as Christians listening to it?
God created worship music, and Satan created secular music; so if God did not create secular music, do you think He doesn’t care if His children are listening to it? As parents, do you allow your children to look and listen to everything? This is why it is so important to read and study the Bible to learn what is acceptable and what is not acceptable to Him.
Christians can’t serve God and Satan, just like a spouse doesn’t want their spouse sleeping around with other people, nor does God want His bride to be a servant of Satan and his demons. God is real, and so are demons, and we will be servants to one or the other.
When a Christian always has time to do everything but pray or read the Bible, it means that demons are influencing the Christian. Prayer strengthens your spirit; it develops a relationship with the Father. It shields the believer from the enticements of sin.
Christians are in a spiritual battle, and they must know who they are fighting. Daily, we need the armor of God; without it, we will find ourselves serving Satan. It starts small, and before you know it, he will have you somewhere in left field, climbing down rabbit holes, and you will wonder how you got so far from God.
This is why it’s such a battle for professing Christians to read their Bibles, because Satan knows that once you get knowledge of God and what He expects out of you as a Christian, he will no longer have you as one of his servants.
Time is winding down; both Jesus and death will come to each of us. When they arrive, will you be found as a servant of God or a servant of Satan? Read your instructional manual so that you will know how to conduct yourself as a Christian.
Make it a habit to start your day with prayer and end your day with prayer. Leave no room for Satan to influence you to be his servant. Stay connected to God, and you will not fulfill the desires of the flesh.
