True Worship

God is a Spirit, and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit, and in truth – John 4:24.

Worship is a lifestyle; it’s not attending church on Sunday, performing different positions in the church.

True worship is having a relationship with our Heavenly Father. It’s a relationship that is daily. Those who worship Him in spirit intentionally make time out to seek Him through prayer, praise, and reading or studying His Word.

It’s not a Sunday relationship, but an everyday fellowship. So many of God’s people have gotten entangled with the world, and they place more emphasis on the things of the world than the things of God.

People follow that which ministers to them, whether it’s spiritual or secular. The reason why so many Christians follow the secular because they have not sold out to God; they prefer the secular to minister to them than God.

The reason for this is that they have not been born-again of the Spirit (Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God – John 3:5). Many have been baptized, but their hearts have not been regenerated.

We can’t serve the secular and God (Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore, will be friend of the world is the enemy of God – James 4:4). As Israel was a spiritual adulteress, unfaithful to God, so the church is a spiritual adulteress when she is the unfaithful bride of Christ. One can’t be both a lover of God and a lover of the world.

This verse does not speak of God’s attitude toward the believer but of the believer’s attitude toward God. The difference between the world and God is so vast that as we move toward the world, we alienate ourselves from God. In the world, sin is considered acceptable and pleasurable. Ultimately, the world has lost its awareness of sin; therefore, sin has become habitual.

Reading the Bible is an instruction manual, and it is also a mirror. One sees their blemishes and imperfections and is moved by what they see. As long as they see their deformities, spots, and ugliness, they try to do something about themselves. But on going away from the mirror, they forget, and their imperfection no longer bothers them. So it is with the Bible; as long as they read and study the Bible, they see themselves as they really are and constantly seek to improve themselves, conforming to its teaching. If they get away from the Bible, they soon forget the real picture of themselves, what manner of person they are.

This is why Satan influences professing Christians not to read their Bible, because he knows that as you find out your imperfection, you will whole heartily seek God to get rid of them. We can’t please our fleshly desires and please God. God does not want anyone to perish; that is why He gave His Son and His written Word to follow.

There will be no excuses why we didn’t read His Word and follow the instructions. There will be no tap on the hand because one rejects salvation. There will be no entry into heaven without holiness. Holiness is the only way we can worship the Father in spirit and in truth and enter heaven.

Everyone who dies does not enter heaven, no matter how many good works they performed. It does not matter how much money they have, popularity, or education. If they reject salvation, if they reject being separated from the world and its actions, if they die in that state, they will not awaken in heaven! If one desires to enter heaven, they need to be working on it before death (Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of Him in peace, without spot, and blameless-2nd Peter 3:14).

Judgment is going to start at the church (For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if first begin at us, what shall be the end of them that obey not the gospel of God – 1st Peter 4:17)? Everyone professing to be a Christian will be judged by their works, whether they are godily or ungodily. Were we Sunday Christians, or did we serve the Lord daily, presenting ourselves holy and separated from the world’s actions?

It’s time out for playing church; either we’re going to serve Him according to His instructions, or we will continue to be friends of the world. Satan is the god of this world, and when we participate in secular actions, we’re serving Satan and will be his followers.

Jesus didn’t die so that we could go to hell; He died so that we could be reconciled with the Father and enter heaven. It’s your choice where you will spend eternity!
