According as His divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory and virtue – 2nd Peter 1:3.
God has given every person who has truly accepted salvation the power to live a godly life. God never requires of us anything He has not given us the ability to do.
It’s more to Christianity than attending or joining a church. We attend church to be in the presence of other believers and to learn from the Word of God. But it won’t help if we don’t apply what we’re being taught. So many believe that if they confess they believe in Christ and He’s the Son of God, this brings about Christianity. Devils believe there is a God (Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble – James 2:19). Devils knew the Son of God (But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshiped Him, And cried with a loud voice, and said. What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God that thou torment me not – Mark 5:6-7). So just because one believes does not mean they’re Christians until they practice what they believe.
Christianity is a belief that is so profound that the person is committed to God with their soul, which is the mind, will, and emotions. (But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul – Hebrews 10:39). It’s the soulish realm that defies the Word of God. To be committed to the Word of God, one must first know the Word of God; if one does not know, they can’t commit to something they don’t know.
It is of the utmost importance for professing Christians to read their Bible other than attending Sunday Morning Worship. The Bible is the Christian’s instruction manual for entering heaven. You can’t follow instructions you don’t know. Just because you don’t know the instructions does not give you an excuse for not following the instructions. God holds every professing Christian responsible to read and study His Word.
What’s in our minds will enter our hearts and become actions. Our minds have to be renewed by the Word of God (And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God – Romans 12:2). When one receive salvation their spirit and heart has been saved, but the mind, will and emotions has not been saved.
The mind, will, and emotions have to be trained to comply with the Word of God. Reading and studying the Bible will give a renewed mind; then we will begin to have the mind of Christ. Jesus was submitted to God even until death. God wants His people to die to self. Christianity is putting on spiritual garments and putting off the spirit of the world.
First, we must put on holiness (Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be My sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty – 2nd Corinthians 6:17-18). Holiness is being separate from the actions of the world and being dedicated to God and His Word.
God has given us the power to come out from the world’s actions, but one must have a willing heart and mind; if not, they will be carnal Christians. A carnal Christian is a nonbeliever but professes to be a Christian. Carnal Christian is an enemy of God (Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God – Romans 8:7-8). Those who are controlled by their sinful nature can not please God. We can’t be servants of God and servants to Satan. God does not want part-time servants!
We can only serve God according to His instructions when our hearts have been regenerated. This is called born-again (Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee. Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God – John 3:5). The heart has to be regenerated to comply with the Word of God. When the heart has been generated, people don’t have a problem submitting to God’s Word. The things they used to say, do, and go, they will no longer have a desire to do them because the Son of God has entered their hearts.
Many profess to be Christians, but they live the opposite of God’s Word. You can’t be a Christian until you become Christ-like. God has empowered every believer to live a holy lifestyle; all they have to do is submit to the leading of the Spirit of God, and they will begin to have dominion over their fleshly desires. He has given the believer the power to resist Satan’s influences when they submit themselves to God (Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you – James 4:7. The problem is that people don’t want to submit themselves to God or His Word.
Two promises of God are going to occur: death and the return of Jesus. When either one of them comes and finds you living a carnal lifestyle, your destination will be hell bound, no matter how you profess to be a Christian (And, behold, I come quickly; and My reward is with Me, to give every man according as his work shall be – Revelation 22:12). The power God has given you to live a holy life is your choice to live it or don’t, but the consequences will not be good when you choose to not do so!

Power To Live Holy
According as His divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory and virtue – 2nd Peter 1:3.
