And He said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth – Luke 12:15.
To covet is to want something that someone else has, and the person will go to any length to have what they covet, no matter what it costs them.
Many have striven for money as the goal of life, not understanding that money does not make a person. Money can’t buy happiness, nor does it give a pass to enter heaven. Sadly, some think they can purchase their time on earth with money; they assume money will buy anything.
Everyone has an appointed time to meet death, and when it comes, if the person has not submitted themselves to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, they will find themselves in Hell. You will never see the ATM or their bank accounts behind a funeral procession.
Faith Ministries uses Scripture but subtly twists it to promote the doctrine of riches and wealth, and many have been deceived. Satan has deceived people into thinking that if they had more money, spouse, large homes, cars, degrees, and popularity, their lives would be better. Many have gained the world, but their soul is lost (For what is man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul – Matthew 16:26).
Whether a person believes there isn’t a God does not make Him not exist! Everyone will have to answer to God one day. Many attend ministries that focus on wealth rather than the sin that often accompanies it. Satan showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the world and told Him that if He would worship him, he would give Him the kingdom and the glory (Again, the devil taketh Him up into an exceeding high mountain, and showeth Him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them. And saith unto Him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me – Matthew 4:8-9). Many have made Satan the lord of their lives to gain money and popularity.
Anytime someone wants attention for themselves, they are really saying, “Worship me.” They are coveting the worship of God for themselves. Many are worshipping secular entertainers who are worshipping Satan because the songs and music do not worship God. Secular music does not worship God, no matter how the person says “I thank God”, but what God are they thanking? People are worshipping entertainers, but will not worship God. To worship anyone or anything other than God is idolatry.
Money is one of the problems that is in the world today; people will do anything to get it. People have been murdered because of insurance policies. Others were murdered by those selling drugs. Many have health problems because they overwork themselves to get money to prove to others what they have, which is another form of idolatry. Men, women, and children have been trafficked because of the love of money (For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows – 1st Timothy 6:10). Marriages have been destroyed because one spouse or both are working more hours than they have to to gain more money and the marriage windup in divorce court or they are living together without a relationship.
Coveteousness steals, kills, and destroys spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and relationally. All these are the characteristics of Satan. Satan is very subtle, and one will not recognize him without a relationship with God to discern what is righteous and unrighteous.
Coveteousness have made people bankrupt because they purchased things they couldn’t afford. Relationships break down when someone covets someone’s spouse. Countries taken over by dictators because of covetousness.
Covetousness should not be in anyone that is professing to be a Christian (Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new – 2nd Corinthians 5:17). Christians should not act like the nonbeliever, nor should they live in agreement with those who does not believe (Can two walk together, except they be a greed – Amos 3:3). Death is coming so is Jesus whatever state He finds you in whether its godliness or ungodly will determine your final destination.

Coveteousness
And He said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth – Luke 12:15.
