Holy Spirit
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him – Luke 11:13.
Apollos was an Alexandrian Jew who arrived in Ephesus before Paul’s arrival. Apollos had received the message of Jesus Christ but knew nothing of the Spirit’s coming and the church age. Apollos had received salvation and was well versed in Scripture, but he had not received the Holy Spirit. When Paul asked had he or the other disciples had received the Holy Spirit, he wasn’t aware that there was a Holy Spirit (He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost – Acts 19:2).
