There is a treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but the foolish man spendeth it up – Proverbs 21:20
Trying to keep up with the Jones’ can bring bankruptcy and sorrow as well as sin because competing against someone else is envy and jealousy.
Credit has ruined many people’s lives and have them living on the edge of despair and depression. The desire to keep up and accumulate more will push us to spend more than we earn. Anytime we spend all, we’re spending more than we can afford. Life is more than living for today. Hopefully there will come a time when we’ll become older and will need money to live a comfortable life without government assistance. The elderly have a saying, “A wise person puts money aside for a rainy day.”
