And the Lord thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live. Deuteronomy 30:6.
The children of Israel broke the covenant of God and they forfeited the covenant promises. The Israelites were punished for their sin led into captivity and exiled to distant lands. The instructions, were if they repented and be converted, their sins would be pardoned. This is the purpose of the covenant of grace, it leaves room for repentance, and a promise of pardon upon repentance.
In order for the Israelite’s sins to be pardoned they had to consider what they had done, confess the sins they had committed, and then return to God with their heart and soul to obedience to the instructions of God, then would they receive the promises of God. Repentance consists of sincere conversion. Prior to Jesus’ death, He talked with one of His disciples about being converted (But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren – Luke 22:32). Satan wanted to destroy Peter and especially since he was the mouthy one, he usually was the one speaking to Jesus for the other disciples. Satan wanted to shut him up and stop him from talking to Jesus, but Jesus informed Peter what Satan’s intentions were, not to worry because He had prayed for him that his faith would not fail.
Though there may be many failures in the faith of true believers, there shall not be a total and final failure of their faith. Through the intercession of Jesus, the faith of His disciples is strengthened. Sometimes our faith can be shaken through sickness, divorce, infidelity in our marriage, unemployment, wounded by the church, but yet, Jesus is before the Father interceding on the behalf of the believer whose faith has been shaken.
In this life, we will have tribulation and all kinds of attacks from Satan. This is the time we need to be truthful to ourselves, confess our faithlessness to God, and ask Him to strengthen our faith in Him. Sometimes we need to be restored to the Father because of sins through gratification and sins of unbelief (Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God – Hebrew 3:12). Departing can be through a lack of prayer, fasting, reading and studying His Word as well as believing He will not answer your prayer. Grace is for repentance (If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness – 1st John 1:9). Whatever area we may have sinned, if we confess and repent, God will restore us. When sins aren’t confessed it causes the anger of God to allow us to stay in captivity of sin without deliverance.
Sunday is a day of gathering to worship for the body of Christ, it’s a day to worship, and it’s a day to come before the Lord to confess our sins and be healed and delivered. Don’t leave church with the same sin you came in with. Humble your heart, check your sincerity with God and His Word, and if you find any area you need to confess and repent, do it, and ask God to restore your commitment to Him and His Word.
So many people confess to being Christians, but if you continue to be around them, you will see carnality. God does not want His people to live carnal lives, He wants them to be faithful to Him. For example, how do you think you will feel if you found out your spouse was cheating on you, it would be hurtful and you would be angry because he or she is supposed to be with you and you only. True Christians are the brides of Christ.
He doesn’t want you to love anything or anyone more than you love Him. He doesn’t want you to live a life of carnality, He gave His life so that you can overcome carnality, and overcome practicing sin. When you confess your sin, then will you be restored to fellowship and relationship with Him. Sin breaks the fellowship, it destroys the relationship.
Restoration is given when we become truthful about ourselves, Jesus is soon to come to get His Bride, and the Bride will be raptured whereas the carnal Christian, disobedient, spiritual adultery, and spiritual fornicator will be left behind. When one deliberately disobeys Scripture they are just like the non-believer.
Restoration is waiting, will you accept it?
