Reminiscence

And they remembered His words – Luke 24:8.

Jesus had been crucified and buried in the tomb. Mary Magdalene, Joanna and Mary the mother of James and Joses came with spices to anoint the body of Jesus, but after reaching the sepulcher (tomb), His body wasn’t there, but an angel was there giving them the whereabouts of Jesus. He called to their remembrance what Jesus had once spoken to them.

Soon after the sabbath was over, the women went to the sepulchre to anoint the body of Jesus. They were sad, they had lost their Master, and were in their own apprehensions, quiet disappointed in their expectations from Him. They had given up the cause, and didn’t know what else to do. Though He was risen from the dead, either they didn’t know it or they didn’t believe it, so they were in sorrow, seeking for the body of Jesus. Once reaching the tomb an angel reminded them what Jesus had previously told them saying, “The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again”.

How often we forget the crucifixion and the torment our Lord and Savior went through to bring us innocent to the Father.  If we kept His love in remembrance that He showed towards us, it would help us to constrain ourselves from the actions and behaviors He died to give us power to overcome.

If we kept in remembrance His promise that He would never leave us or forsake us, we wouldn’t become fearful. If we kept in remembrance, He’s omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, we would know no matter what we’re going through, He’s in the midst of it to bring us out with the victory. If we kept in remembrance, He’s the One that will supply our needs, we wouldn’t go to other sources that is against His will. If we kept in remembrance, He’s the Shepherd and Bishop of our souls, we would know, He will lead and guide our life. If we kept in remembrance, He’s the One  that intercedes our prayers to the Father, we would take our burdens to the Lord and leave them there.

The Love God has for us should make us love others, He don’t love us because we’re so righteous, but He love us because Jesus took away our sins and made us joint heirs with Him. When the Father looks at us, He’s looking at the finished work, not the work that is in progress. Love is the nature of our Father and His Son. If we have them abiding in us we will love like they love.  When you love someone you don’t want to her them, you seek to please them, and that is what we should be doing towards our heavenly Father, seeking to please Him. Remember the blessings He has bestowed upon you. Remember how He keeps you from danger. Remember how He provides for you, Remember when you don’t feel loved that His love toward you are unconditional and will always continue. Remember the sacrifice Jesus went through in order for you to go to the throne of mercy in a time of need, Remember Him!
