The Lord Is My Shepherd

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want (lack). He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil: my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.   (Psalm 23)

Usually, this Scripture is used in eulogizing; it’s not for the deceased, but for the living. When one breathe their last breath; immediately they are ushered to heaven or hell there are no stops, no holding areas or waiting in line, this is why it is so important for born-again Christians to continue to pray and fast for their unsaved loved ones to receive salvation.

Satan our adversary is trying to deceive the people of God that God has forsaken them, God doesn’t hear their prayers, God isn’t aware of what they’re going through. Before you or I was born, our destiny had been ordained by God.  God knows our beginning and our ending and everything that is in between life and death.  Everything  God has spoken over our lives will come to the past; we nor Satan can stop what God has spoken into our lives, if that was so, that would mean God cannot perform His Word or we choose not to accept His will for our lives, if that is the case, He will never go against our will.

The believer trust’s Jesus as being their Shepherd. Sheep are completely dependent on the shepherd for provision, guidance, and protection. Jesus is known as the Good Shepherd (John 10:11); the Great Shepherd (Hebrews 12:20-21); the Chief Shepherd (1st Peter 5:4). When we allow Jesus to lead us, we have contentment because we know He has our best interest at heart.  Jesus does not always lead us into a place of happiness, but we can be assured His presence is always with us no matter what we may be going through. He leads us in places where our faith is tried and places where He can destroy the enemy of our souls if we allow Him.

Although we maybe in a desert or going through a wilderness experience if we trust Him, He will allow us to have peace as though we’re in a green pasture of flowers. Trouble can be on both sides, but He will give us a calmness that will surpass all human understanding. God will never allow Satan to defeat you if you place your trust in God. It may seem as though Satan is winning, but God is setting you up to prepare a table before you in the presence of your enemies.

Job was a man that loved God and hated evil. God allowed Satan to attack his home, children, finances as well as his body with boils from the crown of his to the bottom of his feet. His friends supposed to have consoled him, but they told him he had sinned against God the reason disaster had come into his life. Trouble does not mean you have sinned against God, trouble means elevation; if you will allow God to get out of you what He wants out of you; elevation is coming. Although Job was a good man, Job had ungodly pride and God was coming after the pride in him.

When Job humbled himself and allowed God to reveal what was in him, God blessed Job and gave him twice the amount he had in the beginning. What’s been taken from you, God has something greater in store for you. God will give you double for your trouble. Jesus is leading you into your destiny.  The Lord leadeth us in situations where we can see ourselves; whether or not we’re living according to God’s standards. If we really trust Him the way we say we do, do we really love Him like we say we do? The leading of the Lord brings us into a better place of relationship and fellowship with Him. God desires your relationship with Him more than your happiness!

As Christians, we will have valley experiences that bring death to the things in our lives that shouldn’t be. Don’t fear; allow God to remove the things that are causing spiritual death or causes you to stand up and take your spiritual authority.  As children of God, we must not allow the Adversary to speak doubt and unbelief to our soul because we’re going through some trying times. Be armed; know as a true believer in Christ, there are many trials and tribulation the believer goes through to enter into heaven. You are an over-comer no matter what you may be facing if your faith is in God and your life has been submitted to Him completely (For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? (1st John 5:5).

Did you know, we who are born-again has been sanctified by God, the Father and preserved in Jesus Christ, called to be saints? God is for us and not against us, The Lord God is our sun our shield; the Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.  Know people of God that the Lord is God; it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture. God hears the prayers of the righteous. The Lord will perfect that which concerns you. God will give you the desires of your heart as you delight yourself in Him. How do you delight yourself?  Live according to the Word of God and place your trust in Him.

The Word of God is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. The Word is Jesus, the Shepherd, and Bishop of our souls that lead us into the path of righteousness; that leads us to healing and deliverance. He restores to us what the canker worm and locust stole and took from us. He will order our steps in His Word and let not any iniquity have dominion over us when we allow Him to direct our life.

The Lord preserves your going out and your coming in every since the day you were placed in your mother’s womb. Your tears have been bottled up; those that sow in tears shall reap in joy. Water makes things grow; your tears are making things grow in your life.  Know that your life is in the hands of God; Jesus is the guide to eternal life, He will not allow the enemy to defeat you. Trust Him, praise Him and know that the Lord thoughts towards you are not evil, but good for bringing you to an expected end!
