Holiness Unto The Lord

Give unto the Lord the glory due unto His name: bring an offering, and come before Him: worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness – 1st Chronicles 16:29.

Until the temple of Solomon was completed, there were two legitimate places for community worship: the Mosaic Tabernacle at Gibeon and David’s Tabernacle on Mt. Zion. They were to bring an offering and to worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

The Bible speaks throughout its content about God’s holiness and how the people of God should be holy. Holiness is not a denomination; it’s a lifestyle. When God brought the children of Israel out of Egypt, He instructed them not to be like the surrounding nations; they were to be dedicated to God and Him only.

The actions of the other nations were an abomination to the Lord. They were not to be sexually active other than with their spouse. They were not to marry their relatives. They weren’t to be sexually active with the same gender. They were not to engage in sexual activity with animals. They were not to sacrifice their children to Molech and sought out those with familiar spirits, wizards, divination, observers of times, enchanters, witches, charmers, or necromancers. There were more than these actions they were not to commit; these are just a few of them.

The children of Israel were to be different from the surrounding nations; they were to be separated and dedicated to God. God has not changed; just as He wanted the children of Israel to be holy, He’s expecting Christians to be holy and separated from the world’s actions. The world, spiritually speaking, is Egypt, and God, through His Son, brought His people out of the bondage of Egypt and its Taskmaster: drugs, alcohol, fornication, adultery, prostitution, hatred, discrimination, and so many other ungodly actions they were committing.

Jesus didn’t die for Christians to continue to practice sin. Many have gotten the word Grace for the authorization to continue in sin (What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid, How shall we that are dead to sin, live any longer therein – Romans 6:1-2)? One who continues sin is denying his or her own identity in Christ.

It’s not God’s desire for anyone to go to Hell, but if one continues to live opposite of the Word of God, that is where they will spend eternity. God means what He says when He says, “Be holy, for I am holy.” Just like a natural father or mother means what they say, our Heavenly Father means what He says; otherwise, we will have to suffer the consequences.

Many profess to be Christians, but if their lifestyle is not that of a Christian, the Bible labels them as carnal Christians (Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be – Romans 8:7). When we disobey the Word of God willingly, we are carnal Christians and have become an enemy of God.

Just because we don’t know the Scriptures will not keep us from receiving God’s wrath. He gave us an instruction manual, and it’s left up to us to read the Bible and apply our lifestyle according to the Word of God.

If we come to Him with repenting hearts, we will be reconciled to God (If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness—1st John 1:9). We have to be honest with God and ourselves to receive forgiveness and be restored to the Father. Anything opposite of what the Bible instructs us to do as Christians is sin.

As Christians, we can’t live according to the world’s actions. We can’t go, listen, do what they do, and have a relationship with God. Your prayers are being answered because someone living a holy life is praying for you. That’s why your prayers are answered; that’s why God’s wrath hasn’t come upon you.

Heaven and Hell are real; either we will live with God for eternity, or we will live in Hell for eternity (And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear Him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell – Matthew 10:28). There are no exits in Hell once you enter, you’re there for eternity.

Jesus is on His way back for His church, and judgment is going to start at the house of God (For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God – 1st Peter 4:17)? We can’t pick and choose which Scriptures we will adhere to. God is calling us to holiness; the choice is ours.

We must examine ourselves by the Word of God, not by other so-called professing Christians; the Bible instructs us on how we shall live as Christians. If the Spirit of Jesus is living within us, we would be living a lifestyle according to the Bible; if not, we will be reprobates (Examine yourselves whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye, not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates – 2nd Corinthians 13:5)?

Jesus or death is coming; will you be ready?
