But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and you ye shall be witness unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth – Acts 1:8.
The Holy Ghost and Holy Spirit are the same they are used interchangeably in different parts of Scripture. One thing for sure is that every Christian needs the infilling or baptism of the Holy Spirit.
The Bible was written for Christians to read and adhere to its instructions. The filling or baptism of the Holy Spirit is not for certain denominations but for everyone who professes to be a Christian. Without the baptism of the Holy Spirit, Christians can’t achieve a successful Christian life because they don’t have the Helper in them to assist them in their Christian walk.
Jesus was our example, He didn’t perform miracles, healing, or casting out demons until He was filled with the Holy Spirit. Although He was divine in His earthly body He needed the Holy Spirit (And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness – Luke 4:1). Although Jesus was God during His earthly life and ministry, He still recognized His dependence upon the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
Christians are admonished to be filled with the Holy Spirit (And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess, but be filled with the Spirit – Ephesians 5:18. Some believe they received the Holy Spirit when they accepted salvation, but this is not Biblical. Jesus’ disciples believed that Jesus was the Messiah, the Christ of God and they accepted His salvation, but they were not filled with the Holy Spirit until the day of Pentecost.
Twelve disciples in Ephesus had received Christ and were baptized, but knew nothing of the filling of the Holy Spirit When the Apostle Paul came to Ephesus he saw some of them who had been baptized under John Baptist baptism, so he asked them if they had received the Holy Spirit (He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost – Acts 19:2.
Apostle Paul explained to them about their baptism into repentance, but Jesus who they believed in had given something much more, they heard and were baptized in the name of Jesus and Paul prayed from them by laying his hands on them to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them, and they spake with tongues, and prophesied – Acts 19:6). As a Christian, we need the baptism of the Holy Spirit to function in the Spirit and not in the flesh.
This is the reason why so many Christians are dipping and dabbing in the things of the world because they have not been filled with the Holy Spirit to assist them in living according to the Scriptures, and we can’t do that without Him.
The Holy Spirit is our empowerment, through Him, we can love unconditionally. We communicate to God in our heavenly language by speaking in tongues (For him that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries – 1st Corinthians 14:2). If we pray in an unknown tongue our spirit prayeth (For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful – 1st Corinthians 14:14).
When we pray in the Spirit we pray exactly what the Father would have us to pray for ( Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities [weakness]: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered. And He that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit because He maketh intercessions for the saints according to the will of God – Romans 8:26-27).
The Fruit of the Spirit can’t be performed without the activation of the Holy Spirit; it can only be produced by the Holy Spirit: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. The Holy Spirit also performs gifts of the Spirit. We can’t even have a true meaning of the Scriptures without the Holy Spirit giving us revelation.
It’s the Holy Spirit that enables us to worship the Father in Spirit and truth without Him we can’t. He gives us revelation of God and His Word Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself, but whosoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will show you things to come – John 16:13). Without the Holy Spirit, we will think like the world and act like the world. This is why so many professing Christians can practice sin and it does not bother them because they think what they’re doing doesn’t separate them from God. After all, they accepted salvation.
Accepting salvation and not living according to the instructions is rebellion, and the Bible indicates rebellion is that of witchcraft. The Holy Spirit assists us to love God the way He deserves and enables us to live a godly lifestyle.
The Holy Spirit is a gift that every Christian can receive when they are ready to give up the world and live a dedicated life for Christ. You will not receive the Holy Spirit if you want to live a carnal lifestyle, it’s holy or not, not partially godly, not Sunday godly, but every day a godly lifestyle.
The Holy Spirit is a gift to all those that desire Him (If ye then being evil know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him – Luke 11:13). Only through Him will we be able to live according to the Scriptures, only through living by the Scriptures will we be able to enter heaven.
