If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness-1st John 1:9.
Confession – A declaration associated with worship; it may be either the admission of sin or the profession of faith.
Repentance – Represent regret or remorse over a past thought or action, but in its fullest sense, it is a term for a complete change of orientation involving a judgment upon the past and a deliberate redirection for the future having a change of heart.
Sometimes when there is given an altar call many come to the altar because of the guilt they feel at that moment rather than allowing the Word of God to penetrate their heart to bring about conversion. Guilt or emotional repentance doesn’t last long that’s why people can leave the church and return to their old lifestyle.
There is no sin one can commit and not receive forgiveness for except blaspheming against the Holy Spirit (But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation-Mark 3:29). To blaspheme against the Holy Spirit is not a single act of defiant behavior, but a continued state of opposition entered into willfully. The words and works of Jesus were spoken and performed by the Holy Spirit, but the spiritual leaders said His performance was by Satan which caused them to blaspheme against the Holy Spirit.
Confession of faith is an outward expression of who we serve. If we try to serve God and Satan it brings about confusion to ourselves and others. This is why the body of Christ is weak spiritually because they want to serve God and be a servant to Satan. Miracles, signs, and wonders aren’t being performed as they did in Biblical days because the Lord needs a body to manifest Himself through as He did with the Apostles and prophets. God has not changed, His people did.
Confession also is a way one can return to good fellowship with God the Father when they confess their sins to Him. Unconfessed sins bring about a disconnection with the Father along with unanswered prayers. To follow the instruction manual, it must be read and studied as well as submitted to the instructions.
Repentance is premeditation to no longer continue in the sin or sins. God loves His people, but He does not like or agree with the sins they commit. If you’re familiar with the Bible everything that is happening in the world is leading to the return of Jesus. Jesus is returning for His church without a wrinkle or spot and the only we can conform is by allowing Him to be Lord of our lives and allowing the Holy Spirit to continually cleanse us from our sins through submission to God’s written Word, the Bible-(And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me to give every man according as his work shall be -Revelation 22:120).
Whatever state we are found in when Jesus or death knocks on our door will determine where we will spend eternity. If we’re practicing sin hell is our destiny, if we’re living according to the Word of God, heaven is where we will enter.
So the next time you’re watching, listening, or going somewhere, ask yourself would Jesus be there watching, listening, or going? If He’s not there neither should you as a Christian.

Confession vs Repentance
