His Commandment

A new commandment I give unto you, That you love one another as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples if ye have love one to another – John 13:34-35.

Before this commandment, Jesus gave a sermon on the mount known as the Beatitudes. The opening verses of the Sermon on the Mount indicate that this message deals with the inner state of mind and heart that is the indispensable absolute of true Christian discipleship.

It delineates the outward manifestation of character and conduct of true believers and genuine disciples. Many people profess they are Christians, but their display of love and moral conduct is opposite of the commandments of the Father. How can one profess to be a Christian when they hate others because of the color of their skin, or how can one profess to be a Christian when they hate those who are confused about their gender? God does not hate anyone, but He hates the sin they practice and He alone will deal with them.

Hatred is from Satan and his influence, and many have been influenced by him. God created every soul whether they’re living or dead. He didn’t create discrimination, Satan and man created it. No human is better than someone else no matter what their educational, financial status, or their skin tone may be. Everyone will one day have to answer to God about their faith, behavior, and conduct toward others.

Hatred kills, destroys, divides, discriminates, and disunifies, all the characteristics of Satan. Hatred is like cancer, it kills, it’s deeply embedded in the heart of the individual and it slowly kills them. It spreads into their behavior and character. It blinds their eyes to see the person for who they are and who created them.

Anyone who has hatred in their heart does not have a relationship with the Father. God is love and in Him, there is no sin, hatred is a sin. The wages of sin is death (for the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord – Romans 6:23). Jesus commanded professing Christians to love one another. If we love one another we will not fault-find and criticize. We will be humble in mind, heart, and spirit, and towards one another. Don’t allow Satan or his children to influence you to hate, overcome hatred with love.

Let’s pray that God would send a spirit of love to His people to love others; love will always conquer hatred. Love will not hurt others, it will not slander others, it will not steal from others. Love will always have the best interest of others.
