Comforter

And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever – John 14:16.

The Greek word parakletos means “One called alongside to help”. It’s through the Comforter we can go through difficult times and not go into depression or doubt. It is He who assists us to pray when we don’t know how to pray.

Life can hit so hard at times it seems as though it has knocked the breath out of you, this is when you can depend on the Comforter to assist you in those troubling times to make it through without losing faith or actions that would be against the Word of God.

So many professing Christians have not experienced Him in their lives because of erroneous doctrine. It is through the Comforter who is the Holy Spirit that seals us until the day of redemption (And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption – Ephesians 4:30). It is by the Holy Spirit we commune with God in our heavenly language and keep Satan from knowing what we’re praying about.

Many prayers have been hindered because Satan or his demons interfere with the answer to prayer. The first time you pray, God hears the prayers, but sometimes they are delayed because of hinderous and blocking spirits. Sadly, many Christians don’t believe in demons although they are mentioned in the Bible. The same demons that were mentioned in the Bible are some of the same demons people are dealing with today.

Demons didn’t stop being in existing after the death and resurrection of Christ or after the Apostles. Through the Comforter, the Holy Spirit we will know what spirits we’re dealing with, and through the power of the Holy Spirit we can defend ourselves and our loved ones (Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you – Luke 10:19). We can only fight demons by the Holy Spirit and the Word of God.

The Comforter is with us always because He lives within us when we have been baptized in the Holy Spirit. It is by the Holy Spirit that we are comforted when we’re going through heartaches, disappointments, loss of a loved one. When you feel as though you are alone, know that He’s there to comfort you.

The Comforter is the Holy Spirit that is the Spirit of Truth that gives us the truth of God’s Word. He gives us revelation of the written Word. Every professing Christian needs the Holy Spirit, He has no boundaries of denominations.

In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit only was for a few people, the prophets, but Jesus made it possible for all believers to receive the Holy Spirit without a title (If ye then, being evil know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him – Luke 11:13)? If you desire to be filled with the Holy Spirit all you have to do is ask for it. It is through Him that we can live a godly lifestyle. The more we surrender ourselves to Him, the more He will sanctify us to Himself.

Jesus is on His way back for His church, in order to be a people that will be able to return with Him, we must be a holy people, and that only comes by submitting ourselves to His instructions of the written Word. As we desire to do so, the Comforter will walk alongside us to assist us in living a life that will be pleasing to the Father.
