DRY BONES

And He said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord God, thou knowest – Ezekiel 37:3.

The resuscitation of the nation of Israel is compared to dry bones coming to life. At this point, the Israelites were like dry bones, nationally dead and with no hope of restoration.

Ezekiel’s prophecies were often directed to people as deaf as these old, dry bones. Although Israel had left God, He had not left Israel. He still loved them and planned for them to be restored to righteousness. Israel had been hypocritical and unholy, they had not separated themselves or made themselves distinct from the pagan world around them.

The most tragic outcome of Israel’s sin was that the nation profaned God’s holy name. Defeat and dispersion, especially in the ancient world, were negative reflections on the character of a nation’s god. God’s reputation as holy set apart from other so-called gods in power and purpose was compromised by Israel’s refusal to trust in His instructions for their lives as the people of God.

Just as God had chosen the Jews as His people, He has also chosen Christians to be His people to live separate lives from the nonbelievers. Christians are a chosen generation (But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light – 1st Peter 2:9). When one accepts salvation they have been brought out of darkness. They no longer commit the actions they were committing before accepting salvation.

Christians grow into maturity. It’s a process, but the person must be willing to go through it. We grow by hearing and reading the Word of God (“As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby” – 1st Peter 2:2). If we don’t read or hear the Word, we will slip back into the actions of the world, and sadly, many professing Christianity have slipped back into the old lifestyle.

In many churches, the Spirit of God is not giving visitation because there’s so much sin in the church that He can’t enter. In some churches, it’s just as much sin in the pulpit as in the congregation. They jump and shout, but there’s no manifestation of the Spirit of God being in the place.

When God gives a visitation, it’s not just to make us feel good, but lives will be changed. People will get saved, others filled or refilled with the Holy Spirit, and bodies will be healed. We will see and experience the manifestation of the Supernatural being in our midst as it was in the Book of Acts.

We’re not experiencing the Supernatural because God’s people have so much sin in their lives that He doesn’t enter into our sanctuary. When He does give us a visitation, we rush Him out because we have to go on with the program or dismiss the church.

Many churches don’t have shut-in with fasting and prayer, and when they do, only a few come. So many Christians have become like the children of Israel, they profess they love God, but in their hearts, it’s a different story. They want to look like the world, talk like the world, and commit actions of the world but come to worship on Sunday.

When Christians act like the world, their worship stinks in the nostrils of God. The God we worship is holy and He wants His people to be holy (I BESEECH you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God which is your reasonable service – Romans 12:1). When holiness is in the heart, all the other body parts will come in agreement with the Word of God.

We should be tired of having a social gathering, but desire to see the move of God in our sanctuaries and our homes. To get Him to enter, the worship must be pure, the desire must be there, and the body of Christ must live a holy and Godly lifestyle.

If we have a consistent prayer life, fasting, reading, and studying God’s Word; not only will He visit us in the church, but He will give us visitations in our homes. When we meet with Him in our homes with prayer and worship, we have no problem worshipping Him when we get to the sanctuary.

God desires to manifest and bring about changes in our lives, are willing to sacrifice ourselves to experience the Supernatural?
