That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved – Romans 10:9.
Many have confessed in believing in the Lord Jesus, but neither their spirit nor their heart exemplifies what they believe.
When we accept salvation, we have to put off the old way of living because we have become a new creation in Christ. Our old lifestyle should no longer be on display. Jesus has saved us from the wrath of God, but we also have a responsibility as well to protect what He has given us (Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness which is idolatry. For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience – Colossians 3:5-6.
We can’t continue to live a lifestyle that is the opposite of our Father. He is holy, and He expects His people to be holy. Holiness means being separated from the world’s thinking and actions. Every day we have a choice to live according to the Word of God or we can live by our old lifestyle, one that rejects the instructions of the Scripture.
Our life is nothing but a vapor; we can die at any time, or Jesus can return for His people. Will you be able to go back with Him? Only those who are sanctified will return with Him. Sanctification is living for God whole heartily. One has dedicated oneself to God and His Word.
Christians are to be Christ-like; this is for every denomination. We have to read the instructions and adhere to what the Scripture instructs us to comply with God’s instructions. We can’t be doers of the Word if we don’t know His Word.
We have to love God and love our neighbor, these two instructions our Lord and Savior gave us. When we live according to these commandments, we’re carrying out the instructions of the Ten Commandments. We can’t love God with our human heart; He has to place His love in us to love Him as He deserves to be loved.
When God’s love resides in us, we can live according to Scripture without any excuses. The Bible instructs us to mark the perfect man (Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace -Psalm 37:37). This doesn’t mean the person is perfect, but he or she is living according to the Word of God by their actions towards God and His people. They are righteous in God’s eyes; the perfect man is sanctified, and they are at peace with God.
If we’re saying we are Christians but we are still dipping and dabbing in the things of the world, we have not submitted our heart and soul to God (Whereforth come out from among them, and be ye separate saith the Lord, and touch not the uncleann thing; and I will receive you – 2nd Corinthians 6:17). We can’t be partakers of the world actions.
When we have truly believed in our hearts and the Spirit of the Lord enters our being, He begins to take out things in our souls that are unclean and unrighteous. A holy God lives in a clean temple; He does not reside in those who are living hypocritical lives. When Jesus comes into our heart, we set our affection on things above and not the things of the world (If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God -f Colossians 3:1).
We protect our ears and eyes, and we don’t allow anything to enter them. What enters the eyes and ears goes into our spirit and contaminates our spirit. Our tongues have been submitted to the Lord, and profanity does not come out. We don’t lay our religion down and pick it back up when we get through saying or doing what we want to do. Holiness is a daily walk with the Lord, and we can only do that when we have believed and submitted our hearts to Him.
Jesus is returning for His church, those who have sanctified themselves to Him. Death is coming, and whatever state it finds us in is where we will spend eternity!
