Loving The World

Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you – 2nd Corinthians 6:17.

Whether one is a believer or nonbeliever, we will be servants to either God or Satan, but we can’t serve both, although many professing Christians try to.

Many professing Christians serve Satan Monday through Saturday, and on Sunday morning, they come to worship the God they ignored all through the week. To have a connection and fellowship with Him, we must separate ourselves from the compromises and sinful values and actions the world practices.

When God brought the children of Israel from the bondage of the Egyptians, He instructed them not to practice the practices the surrounding nations were committing; they were to be dedicated to Him only. People are in bondage to sin because the god of this world has blinded their eyes (In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them – 2nd Corinthians 4:4). People are living and practicing sin because they reject the truth of God’s Word. They’re bound and are not aware that they are in bondage.

People look at celebrities and entertainers and think that because they give reference to their god, they believe they are talking about the Holy God, but they’re referring to the god of this world. Their lifestyle does not coincide with the Holy Scripture, and people worship them and their god. So, because they refer to god, people are following them and their actions and calling themselves Christians.

Everyone produces fruit, whether corrupt or godly; the Bible says we will know them by their fruit (Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns or figs of thistles – Matthew 7:16)? Their fruit refers not only to the actions of their lives but also to the doctrines they proclaim. The normal and consistent production of fruit, whether good or evil, in a person’s life will bear evidence of whether or not that life is of God, the One and Only God.

Celebrities and a lot of gospel entertainers are not serving our God, and we should not be serving their god! When you praise them, you’re praising them and their god. When God instructed His people to be holy, that is exactly what He meant. Christians should be separated from the actions of the world. When salvation is accepted from the heart, the person becomes a new creation in Christ (Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new – 2nd Corinthians 5:17). When one comes into the vital union with Jesus they are no longer the same person spiritually.

When Jesus enters the heart, He begins to move the things of the world from out of the heart and spirit of the individual. Instantly after salvation, the person will feel a change in their heart. As they allow Jesus to work in them, they will begin to lose the desires of the world. If the person desires to keep the spirit of the world, Jesus will not make them give it up, but they will not have fellowship with Him.

Jesus is just like His Father; He’s holy, and to have fellowship with Him, we too must become holy. God gave us His Word that He spoke to godly men, and they wrote as the Spirit inspired them (All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness – 2nd Timothy 3:16). The Bible gives instructions for God’s people to live in righteousness, not as the world.

Inspiration refers to the supernatural guidance of the writer of Scripture by the Spirit of God so that what they wrote was the divine Word of God, transcribed accurately, reliably, and without error in the original manuscripts. This does not mean we can’t rely on the Scripture because of the many times they have been translated, it’s enough in the Scripture if one wants to be saved, can receive it, and follow the instructions given to live a godly and righteous lifestyle.

We can’t conform to the world; if so, the love of the Father is not in us (Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him – 1st John 2:15). We should love the world, because God loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, but in the sense of pledging personal loyalty and devotion of one’s whole being and mean, we should not be devoted to the world, but to God!

Many Christians don’t have time to read their Bibles or pray because they give all their spare time to social media, their cell phone, or watching their favorite movies on television. They dedicate their spare time once a week, about an hour and a half, to church activities. If the service is longer than that, they will begin to complain. Christians need to do a self-examination of their spiritual life.

If we’re prioritizing more of the world in our schedule than the things of God, that is what we’re loving; and we’re ritually serving God. We must sacrifice time to spend with Him if we love Him; one will never establish a relationship with God if we never spend time with Him.

We can’t be between Christians; there is no such thing; either we’re Christian or we’re not. Praying only when one is in trouble is not love; reading the Bible only when attending a once-weekly service is not love. What if your spouse gave you that much time, would you think they loved you? No, you wouldn’t! So what makes you think God thinks you love Him when you spend all your spare time with the things of the world?

Jesus is on His way back for His church, and He’s coming for a church that loves Him and His Father. A church that has separated itself from the world. A church that is godly and righteous, preparing itself for the return of its King.
