Spiritual Sleep

Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger – Proverbs 19:15

Slotfulness can cause one to be spiritually dead even though they have accepted salvation.

Sadly, people think just because they join a church that’s all they need to do, and they’re on their way to heaven when they die. God is looking for more than I believe in Jesus; the devil believes there is a God, and they tremble (Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble – James 2:19). The devils believe there is a God, they tremble, but they don’t submit to Him. We don’t want to be like the devils and not submit to Him, die, and wake up to a rude awakening.

Everyone has an appointed time with death; when death comes, will it find us in good standing with God? Money, fame, education, and titles do not give us entrance to heaven. We must accept salvation and apply the instructions of the Bible to our daily lives.

Attending church and still living according to the desires of our flesh will make us participants in hell. The preacher can’t preach you into heaven. Good words from others will not get you into heaven. The Word of God is His law, and we must obey it.

Satan has God’s people in spiritual sleep;  Preachers aren’t preaching about heaven and hell or sin, so people think, Go to church, and I will be alright. This generation doesn’t know about the baptism of the Holy Spirit and what we must do to receive Him.

Preachers aren’t teaching about holiness and what holiness means. Preachers are preaching and teaching what their congregants want to hear; they don’t want to offend anyone. The Jews were offended in Jesus because He taught what His Father instructed Him to say (And they were offended in Him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not honor, save in his own country, and in his own house – Matthew 13:57). Carnal Christians don’t want to hear the truth of God’s Word just as it was with Jesus.

The Word of God must be taught, even if some people do not want to hear it. Ministers are responsible for teaching and preaching God’s Word to win souls and not agree with the sins the body of Christ is committing.

Preachers are to be godly examples of Christianity, but some women preachers disgrace other women preachers by their dress attire. Some of these women’s dresses are so tight they look as though they were poured in them. They are showing their cleavage and everything else that will inflame the flesh of men looking at them, and not hearing them.

Godliness is not an option; it’s a command from our Lord and Savior (He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still – Revelation 22:11. At Jesus’ return whatever state He finds us in that’s the state we will continue to be in hell.

Wake up from spiritual sleep; Jesus is returning for His church, His Bride, and we have to be prepared for His coming to return with Him. We have to prepare ourselves now before Jesus’ return or death. Whatever state we’re in when death comes is the state that will determine whether or not we’re going to heaven or hell.

Accepting salvation is a spiritual change; we no longer do the things we used to do before accepting salvation. We look to the Bible for instruction on how to conduct our lives because we love Him. How can one fall in love with someone when we don’t know them? To know them, time must be spent with them. To know the Father, we must spend time in His word and time with Him in prayer. As we spend time with the Father, we’re building a relationship, we will be sensitized to His voice, and will be able to discern His voice from our spirit and the voice of Satan. Who we submit to is who will be a servant to.

Slothfulness can cause us to be spiritually blinded and hearing impaired to the voice of God. God is His Word, and His Word is God speaking. Take time to read the Bible, memorize Scriptures, and talk to God without asking for anything. This is building a relationship. God loves to hear our voices, praising Him, telling Him about our day and concerns. Just as we talk to a friend, we can talk to God. Building a relationship with God can be very rewarding and joyful.
