Commitment

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God – Romans 12:2

Commitment is a harsh word to the majority of people professing to be Christians. They desire to live according to the world, and one day a week they attend church and think this is acceptable to God.

Sadly, people will commit to everything except God. Most professing Christians are living double lives. Monday through Saturday, they live according to the world’s standards, and on Sunday they go into the sanctuary and listen to the Word of God, knowing in their minds and hearts they will not live by what they have been taught. Every time someone attends church, listens to ministers on television, or receives individual ministry, they are held responsible for what they do with what they have been taught.

God Himself isn’t going to come down and minister to people; He sends His servants to minister to His people whether it’s church, home, supermarket, school, community, or place of employment. Once His Word has been given, it’s the person’s choice whether they want to live according to what has been given to them.

God gave us His written Word to live by as Christians. Scriptures were written by holy men by the inspiration God gave them (All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works – 2nd Timothy 3:16-17). The Bible was not written for nonbelievers; it was written for believers.

God would be unjust if He recompensed you for not applying His instructions if He hadn’t given you something to go by. This is why it is so important for Christians to read and study the Word of God so they know what is expected of them as Christians. It’s every Christian responsibity to know the Word of God and apply it to their lives daily.

When the children of Israel were in the wilderness, when they camped the Levites were to surround the tabernacle of testimony so that God’s wrath would not come upon the congregation (But the Levites shall pitch round about the tabernacle of testimony, that there be no wrath upon the congregation of the children of Israel: and the Levites shall keep the charge of the tabernacle of testimony – Numbers 1:53). God knew the children of Israel were not serving Him wholeheartedly, so He instructed the Levites to surround the camp to keep the wrath of God from coming upon the congregation.

The Levites were holy men, as it were in Moses’ dispensation; ministers should be holy: apostles, pastors, evangelists, prophets, and teachers. These ministers should be in every ministry, no matter what the denomination. Jesus ordained these ministry gifts for the body of Christ. When these offices are in position, they help the pastor as well as being a shield to keep the wrath of God from coming upon those they are aware are living sinful lives by praying and fasting for them. Altar workers should be living holy lives so that when they pray for people, the person will receive a break-through, not leave the altar the same way they came.

A remnant is dedicated to God; deliverance is needed from the pulpit to exit the door. Preaching and teaching while living ungodly lifestyles. Choir members singing songs they aren’t living up to. Musicians have been changed into the band as though they were in a secular concert, and most of them live secular lifestyles. Deacons and Elders are committing fornication, drinking, smoking, and some may be committing adultery. They can’t protect the people because their prayers are an abomination (He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination – Proverbs 28:9). The congregation can’t pray for themselves, and some don’t have spiritual leaders who can pray for them.

The fivefold ministry is responsible for praying for the people in the congregation, but many in the fivefold ministry are living secular lives. Congregants attend church faithfully, but live opposite of the Word of God; but think because they joined a church; working in different positions of the ministry will make them favorable for entering heaven. Holiness is for everyone who is professing to be a Christian. Christians must study the Word of God so that they can apply His instructions to their daily lives.

God is still calling for His people to be holy (But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light – 1st Peter 2:9). Holiness was in the Apostle Peter’s dispensation, and holiness is for now; God does not change, nor does His Word (For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed – Malachi 3:6).

God has given everyone a choice of whom they will serve; if they choose to live for Satan, so shall it be with eternal torment. Serving the Lord with holiness brings about eternal life with the Father and Son. Sadly, people don’t believe God will send them to hell because He’s a loving God. Yes, He is a loving God, and He will send you to hell when you live in opposition to His instructions (But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death – Revelation 21:8).

God wants commitment to Him, and by doing so, you can get that unbelieving spouse, children, people in your community, and church saved by your dedication to God (The effectual fervent prayers of a righteous man availeth much – James 5:16a). God hears the prayers of the righteous, and not only does He hear them, He will answer them.

Many are committed to their job, education, spouse, children, and their own selfish needs and have made little gods they’re serving. Whom you have committed to serve, whether in righteousness or unrighteousness, you have made them your god (Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or obedience unto righteousness – Romans 6:16). Whoever and whatever you’re faithful to, you will be their servant.

Christians want God to be faithful to them, but they won’t be faithful to God. God wants to hear your prayer and praise when you’re not asking Him for something for yourself or your family. Jesus is coming, and He’s returning for the faithful, for the holy; those who are committed to Him and His Word. Faithful in the good times, faithful in the bad times, in the hurting times, in the hopeless times, in the don’t know what to do times. Just as we want our spouse to be faithful, God wants His people to be faithful to Him; the church is the Bride of Christ

Get to know God by your experiences (And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience, and patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us – Romans 5:3-5). Read and study His Word; put your phones down, grab a Bible, scroll the Scriptures like you do social media. If you look at your Bible, it says “Holy”; there’s nothing Holy about your phone.

The church quickly adapts to anything except the Word of God. If He’s your Father, you should have His DNA. His DNA is holy, and so should His children be. Get the Word of God in your mind, heart, and spirit; then you can fight for yourself, family, and others with His Word. God watches over His Word to perform it. If you live by His Word, you will be blessed; if you live opposite of His Word, eventually you will receive His wrath.
