Treasure

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and were thieves do not break through nor steal – Matthew 6:19-20.

Fallow Ground

Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till He come and rain righteousness upon you-Hosea 10:12

Hosea calls the people to repentance, reminding them that a decision could not be postponed, and that God’s blessings could be still be restored. In Israel’s case, the people had to re-establish social justice, righteousness, loyalty and mercy in the land. Break up fallow ground; plowing and planting are necessary steps for growing a crop that will eventually sprout when the rain fall in season.
