If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land – 2nd Chronicles 7:12.
Solomon had finished building the Temple, and he was dedicating the Temple to God. To dedicate something is to set apart a place, object, or person for an exclusive purpose. The purpose of dedicating the Temple was to be a place of worship. The Temple was a holy place where the Spirit of the Living God reside.
