Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink – Isaiah 5:20-22
Isaiah, the prophet was informing the believer about the danger of calling evil good, and good evil. In today’s society, the very thing God has instructed us not to do, is what society is saying do it, it’s ok. High-mindedness is considered as pride and God doesn’t want us to have ungodly pride.
Pride is something we all have, it only becomes ungodly when we think our accomplished tasks, situations and circumstances have happened without the assistance of God. Or when we think we’re better than others. Pride is accompanied with rebellion, and the Bible instructs the believer, rebellion is as witchcraft. As Christians, we must have a humble heart, mind and spirit in order to please God. As Christians, we shouldn’t be drinking or any form of addition because we have been instructed to present ourselves as a living sacrifice (I beseech you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable (rational) service).
