Strive to enter in at the straight (narrow) gate for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able – Luke 13:24

Strait means narrow. Jesus said there was only one way to be saved and that is through Him; no other name or person can we receive salvation through. Finding salvation requires more concentrated effort than most people are willing to put forth.

We can’t work our way to salvation, the work we must do is to really desire Jesus and accept the finished work He did for our salvation through His death, burial and resurrection. We must diligently strive to follow Him whatever the cost maybe. This is why He has instructed His followers that they must deny themselves if they want to follow Him (Then said Jesus unto His disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me – Matthew 16:24). Following Jesus may sometimes cause you to be misunderstood, lied on, rejected, persecuted; and suffering emotionally from those we love. Everything we go through in order for Him to build His character in us, will make us into the image of the Father and Son.
