Temple of the Lord

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own –  1st Corinthians 6:19

Israel’s first temple was a portable tabernacle in the wilderness that Moses was directed to construct so that God could dwell among His people. After Israel entered the land of Canaan they established shrines and sanctuaries in various location. The temple was where the Spirit of God would enter and He would dwell with His people.

God no longer desired to dwell in tents, temples and shrines, so He prepared us to be His temple through being born of His Spirit. He now lives within every born-again Christian. There is a difference between a believer and being born-again. A believer believes there is a God, as well as Jesus being the Son of God, but they will take portions of the Bible to submit to and reject what makes them feel uncomfortable. Regeneration is absolutely necessary to our happiness here and the hereafter. It is impossible that we should be happy if we be not holy.

Holiness is complete surrender to God and His written word. When we surrender ourselves completely to Him then we can receive His gift of the Holy Spirit, it’s free. We can’t work for it, and it can’t be purchased. The Holy Spirit assists us to live according to the word of God. It is He that produces the Fruit of the Spirit, and it is He that makes the Gifts of the Spirit productive in the life of a Christian.

We’re the temple where the Spirit of the Living God resides and we must keep it holy. Prayer and fasting gives us the weapon we need to fight against our fleshly desires. Reading and studying the word of God will give us revelation of the truth of the word of God and when we apply it to our life, it makes us the sons of God whether we’re male or female.
