Divine Nature

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust – 2nd Peter 1:4.

Peter is talking to born-again Christians, I’m not going to say the body of believers because there are a lot of people that believe there is a God, but they will not surrender their lives completely to be used by God nor will they follow the instructions God has given through the Bible. A born again Christian is one that has the Spirit of the Living God engulfing their human spirit.  When we are born again, God by His Spirit empowers us with his own godly character and attributes.According to the Bible, when we have the Spirit of God living within us, we have been made one with Him and the Son. We have been given the power to dominate the thoughts and actions that the world considers as normal. As born-again Christians, we are in the world, but we’re not of the world and since we’re not of the world, we don’t suppose to be acting like the world.  Lust is dominating not only the lives of the unbeliever but also the Christian arena. Lust is self-centeredness, self-indulgent, selfish, covets, rebellion, jealousy, idolatry and the list goes on.  Lust goes further than just fornication and adultery. We cannot escape the corruption of the world unless we have the Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead living within us. Attending church will not save you, baptism doesn’t save you, but through faith that Jesus is the Son of God and the willingness to submit yourself completely and totally until the Lord is the only way we may enter into the kingdom of God and the city of God.

How can we say we love God, but never spend time reading His word, how can we say we love God but chose to rebel against His instructions for the body of Christ? Jesus didn’t die so that we could continue to live the life we were living prior to accepting salvation. True salvation brings about a change in the individual’s life, the worldly desires they once had begin to diminish as they read the Word of God and willing to submit to His instructions.  Jesus is soon to return, He’s coming back for His bride, the church. In order to return with Him, we have to be living according to His Father’s instructions.

Revelations 21:2 – And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
