When You Pray

Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire , when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them – Mark 11:24

Faith is a spiritual resources that comes from God. It is given to the believer as a “sixth sense”, one that goes beyond the five senses (taste, touch, hearing, seeing, and smelling). When we’re born again, faith is imparted from God. It does not fail when the trials come. Because is it our faith in God that can come against the sickness that tries to enter our bodies. Because of our faith in God, we can encounter every trial, ever circumstance, every problem. Faith is something everyone receives of God when they receive salvation, without faith one can’t receive it. Faith isn’t something you can feel tangible, but within yourself you know when you have received what you asked for prior to it being manifested. Confession to receiving salvation is not by our mouth’s confession, but rather, the mouth testifies readily of the grace of God in Christ which has been received by faith.

The same faith it took to receive salvation, is the same faith we must have to keep it, if not, Satan will come to try to steal what we have believed we received, and that goes for anything we receive by faith. Jesus instructed His disciples to have faith in God then whatsoever they prayed for they shall have it. Many times Christians don’t receive what they have asked for because they are placing their faith in themselves or the they don’t have faith in God.

In order for one’s faith to be in God they must communicate with Him. In order to become friends with anyone, you must spend time with them, communication is between the two, through communication and listening to the other person, that’s how we get to know them and place our faith in them. It’s the same way with God, in order to get to know Him, we must communicate with Him and that’s through prayer and listening to what He has to say. Listening comes through spending time with Him in silence, sometimes He will speak audible, or He will bring scriptures to our mind. Reading His word, is Him speaking to us through His written word.

You can’t have faith in somebody you don’t spend time with. God is faithful to us when we’re not faithful to Him, God is faithful to His word and His promises. So when we go to God in prayer, we must believe He heard us and that He will answer our prayer. Sometimes prayers are answered immediately and there are times, answer to prayers will be delayed, but not denied. When we go to God, we must believe He is what He says He (But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that His is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him – Hebrews 11:6). Diligently means one that has a consistent prayer life, not just when trouble arises.

The more we communicate with God, the more we will trust Him in everything we ask Him for because we know He has our best interest at heart (And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you: seek, and ye shall find, knock, and it shall be opened unto you – Luke 11:9). In order for the prayer to be answered, we must ask, then we must seek Him through His written word to see if what we’re  asking for is His will. Once we find out His will for our life, keep knocking, that’s through prayer until He opens the door. An open door indicates an entrance meaning He has heard our prayer and He’s answering them. Secondly, in order to receive answered prayer, we must forgive whomever has wronged us. Get to know God through prayer and reading His word then will your faith grow in Him and not your circumstances!
