Spiritual Fruit

Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples – John 15:8.

Jesus is the vine, planted in the vineyard, and not a spontaneous product; planted in the earth, for He is the Word made flesh. Believers are branches of this vine, the branches of the vine are many, yet, meeting in the root, are all but one vine. We must be fruitful, from a vine we look for grapes, and from a Christian, we look for Christianity, this is the fruit.

Many people try to do good, be honest, and do what is right, but Jesus says the only way to live a truly good life is to stay close to Him, like a branch attached to the vine. Apart from Him our efforts are unfruitful. Where there is good fruit, there are also seeds for propagation.  As we grow spiritually, we also will produce fruit, we live a life that will draw others to Jesus, through the Father working in and through us. When we produce fruit the Father is glorified (Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth for evil fruit – Matthew 7:17). Their fruit refers not only to their actions of their lives, but also to the doctrine they proclaim.

The Fruit of the Spirit should be manifesting through those whose professing to be Christians, Love, Joy, Peace, Long-suffering, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness and Temperance, we should be the example of our Father, and these are His characteristics. These fruits being manifested in us will draw others to God. We should have the fruit of righteousness according to God’s definition of righteousness, (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth – Ephesians 5:9). The believer’s position has changed from darkness which is sin to light indicating righteousness. Believers are to change their walk to correspond to their position in Christ.

Many who profesess to be a Christian has led many into spiritual depavity which could be considered bad fruit, Jesus teaches His disciples they would know a person to the fruit they produce, sadly to say many professing Christians think because they attend church or they know a few Scriptures that they are producing good fruit. There is more to living out the Scriptures other than abstaining from sexual sins. Prayerless is a sin when Jesus has instructed the believer than man should always pray (And He spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint – Luke 18:1).

Faultfinding, critizing is a sin many professing Christians don’t look at as sin, but it is. As professing Christians we should take daily examination of ourselves rather than on others to see if we’re really living according to the instructions God’s written Word instructs the believer to adhere to. Christianity is a daily walk with God, minute by minute and moment by moment. It’s easy to find ourselves saying or doing something that does not line up with the Word of God when our prayer life is basically zero, and reading the Word of God is maybe once a month or when we want something from God.

Prayer should be daily for the professing Christian, and reading and studying the Word of God daily or every other day.  It shouldn’t be days, weeks and months before we pray or read the Bible. Our spirit needs to be fed just like our physical bodies needs to be fed and when its not fed it manifests through our behavior and character. As a professing Christian, are you producing good fruit or bad fruit? It’s never to late to make a change if you’re producing more bad fruit than good fruit!
