God Has Given You Power

God Has Given You Power

But you shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you, and ye shall be witness unto me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth – Acts 1:8.

When you look at the natural, one would think the only ones that have power are those that are rich, famous, or well educated. Mind you, all these are blessings, and we should desire to have them, but if we have all these things we desire and don’t have God as the center of our life the worldly things we have will not give us the joy and power that comes from God.

We’re spiritual beings in a world that will soon come to an end. What we’re seeing with our natural eyes will someday fade away. Too many times we’re concentrating on the things we can see rather than the things we can’t see. God has given us a promise that once we receive the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit we shall receive power, this power you can’t see with the natural eye, but when activated with faith it will produce a life-changing experience. The Holy Spirit wasn’t just given to us in order for us to speak in a language we can’t understand or to jump and shout and run around the church. God placed His Spirit within us to enable us to fulfill His calling for our lives as well as assist others to fulfill their calling.

There is nothing greater than speaking to the Father in our heavenly language, it’s a blessing to dance before the Lord as David danced, but once we get through dancing and speaking in tongues, can we free ourselves from the bondage of Satan’s grip? This why the Father gave us a portion of His Spirit to fight against evil influences. We must begin to utilize the power God has given us, many Christians have the Spirit of God living within them and they still suffer from the “I can’t help it”. When one truly accepts salvation, God gives them a portion of His Spirit. Then there is the baptism of the Holy Spirit as He did with the disciples.

When one has been regenerated, it is the act by which God imparts spiritual life to one who trusts Christ; without this spiritual birth, a person can’t perceive spiritual things (Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost – Titus 3:5). The baptism of the Holy Spirit is continuous, meaning as long as we’re living and continue in the submission to the Word of God, He will continue to fill us with His Spirit. Giving us divine wisdom and knowledge, empowering the believer to fight against Satan and his co-host by His Spirit that lives within them.

Prayer, fasting, and reading the Word of God gives the believer ammunition. Every time we fast we’re submitting ourselves more and more to God until it will be no more us that lives, but the Christ that lives within us. We’re fighting an adversary that has been around for thousands of years. One that is subtle, watches for our weakness. Satan can’t be in two places at the same time, so he sends his co-hosts to watch and tell him where the believer can be influenced.

It is much more to salvation than just saying I believe. When one believes with their heart rather than their emotions a spiritual change will come into their hearts and they will receive the Holy Spirit which is a gift from God to the believer (If ye then being evil know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him – Luke 11:13).

It’s through the Holy Spirit we commune with God, it’s through the Holy Spirit the Fruit of the Spirit and the Gifts of the Spirit will manifest Himself through the believer. Jesus is our King, and every King has a kingdom, the believer is His domain, and it should be only one ruling! If He’s reigning in the believer bad habits must bow and come subject to the name of Jesus and the Word of God. If God is reigning the ” I can’t help it” will no longer be an influence. If the believer has received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, God has empowered him or her to have the rule over themselves and over evil spirit influence.

Take time read and study the Word of God, learn about who you are in Him. Learn about what He expects out of you as a professing Christian. God has given you a portion of His Spirit to live a victorious life. You don’t have to be afraid, worried, oppressed, and suppressed by evil spirits, the Greater One lives within you!
