Commitment to Jesus

Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act, making your righteousness shine like the dawn, your justice like the noonday – Psalm 37:5.

Commitment is a pledge, responsibility, an agreement, or a promise. Many Charismatic Christians today don’t understand what true commitment is because they’ve come out churches that were controlled by man and not by the Holy Spirit. Consequently, these Christians were bound by a lot of rules and regulations which were not based on the Word of God and it hindered their Christian walk.

Real commitment concerning the things of God is not a commitment to rules and regulations made by man, real commitment is not based on what man requires of us, but on what God requires. The Father wants professing Christians to be committed to a Person – the Person of Jesus Christ! As Christians, our first commitment is not to ourselves, to a preacher or to an organization, but to Christ who is our Savior and Lord.

There are a lot of people today who have accepted Christ as their Savior but they’ve never committed themselves to His Lordship, they have never accepted Him as Lord and Master. When we allow Jesus to be our Lord and Master, we forsake our own desires and our own ambitions and seek Jesus’ will and His plan for our lives. It is only by walking in His will and His plan for our lives that we will find happiness and fulfillment.

When we totally commit ourselves to the Person of Jesus Christ, then He is not only our Savior, He becomes our Lord. Many want to accept the Father, but they don’t want to accept Jesus. Without accepting Jesus, we can’t access the Father (He that hath the Son hath life, and he that have not the Son of God hath not life – Ist John 5:12).

Many worship Mary, the Mother of Jesus, but they don’t reverence Jesus as Lord nor Savior, they place all their emphasis on Mary. Mary, the Mother of Jesus had to accept Him as Lord as well Savior even though she gave birth to Him (And Mary said, Behold the handmaid [maid servant] of the Lord; be it unto me according to they word. And the angel departed from her – Luke 1:38).

It is Jesus who is sitting on the right-hand side of God, it’s not Mary, Buddha, Mohammed or any other human (Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God – Hebrews 12:2). The right side and right hand are generally associated in figurative language and symbolic use with strength, favor, and good fortune.

God Himself, addressed Jesus as God (But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever. A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of thy kingdom. No other man, angel, or any being can take the place and the authority of Jesus, the Son of God. When we worship any other, we’re rejecting the Son of God which will cause one to be hell-bound.

When we make Jesus Lord, we are subject to Him in every way, we give Him our talents, our ambitions, desires, we submit our entire life to Him. The only way we can get to the Father is through Jesus, through His salvation and sanctification. Sanctification is not a denomination, it’s a lifestyle one must have in order to enter Heaven. Professing to be a Christian, but not living according to the Word of God is dangerous.

The Father holds Christian responsible for living their lives according to His instructions. If one does not know the Word of God, they can’t live according to the Word. So it’s the responsibility of every Christian to read and study the Word of God (Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth – 2nd Timothy 2:15). This isn’t just the responsibility of the ministers but to every professing Christian.

Jesus is returning to gather His church, and the wrath of God on those who rejected His salvation (And behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me to give every man according as his work shall be – Revelation 22:12). Take time to read and study the Word of God, decide to follow the instructions of God’s written Word. Make Jesus your Savior and Lord!
