The Precious Blood of Jesus

Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers. But with the precious blood of Christ as of a lamb without blemish and without spot – 1st Peter 1:18-19.

The human mind will never comprehend just how much the Father and Son love us even if we’re born-again Christians, our finite mind just can’t comprehend it, if so, we would do all that we could do humanly possible to please the Father and show the Son how much we appreciate His death for our sins.

Circumstances can affect the value of anything, differing circumstances can make the very same thing either worthless or extremely valuable. The reality of sin and its dire consequences make the blood of Jesus very precious. The brutality He took when He could have resisted what He had to go through for our sins, but He didn’t. He allowed man to brutalize Him to the point He was unrecognizable. He allowed them to hang Him on the cross for the sins of the world. The blood Jesus is made infinitely more valuable and precious to us because of the power it has in our life.

We don’t fully realize how precious health is until you get sick. Or how precious it is to live without pain until you have suffered pain or how precious food is until you have suffered hunger. Hunger makes food precious, thirst makes water precious, and poverty makes riches precious. Sin makes the blood of Jesus precious!

The blood of Jesus is precious because of its redeeming power. The Bible instructs the believer without the shedding blood there is no remission of sins (And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of it no remission – Hebrews 9:22). The law seems to require that almost everything be purged with blood and there is no remission, forgiveness, without the shedding of blood.

In the Old Testament, the Israelites would have to sacrifice different animals for the sins of the people. The sacrifice had a limited time, it only covered the people sins, it didn’t cleanse them from sin and when the people would sin again another animal would have to be sacrificed, but when Jesus gave Himself as a living sacrifice, His blood covered and cleansed every sin that would, has, or would be committed. We have been bought with a price, the precious blood of Jesus! For this cause, we should conduct ourselves to the instructions of the Bible.

Not only is the blood of Jesus precious because of its redeeming power, but it also precious because of its cleansing power (But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin – 1st John 1:7). No way can one continue to walk in darkness when they have truly come in contact with Jesus. Jesus cleans the heart of sin which becomes actions in the person’s life when they have not been cleansed by the blood of Jesus.

Through the shedding of the blood fo Jesus, God has made peace, reconciling all things to Himself! We couldn’t go in the presence of God if it was not for the shedding of the blood of Jesus. God does honor Mary, Mohammed, Buddha, or any other name other than the name of Jesus! It was Jesus who died for our sins, it would Jesus who was raised from the dead. It was Jesus who reconciled man to God. It is Jesus who is sitting on the right-hand side of God. It is Jesus who will be coming back for His church. It is Jesus who will come with the wrath of God to those who rejected His salvation and the instructions of the Bible!

When sin comes to influence, we need to keep in mind how precious is the blood of Jesus and what He has done for us. Appreciating what He has done will make sin non-desirable.
